Devotion 41
DEVOTION 41: “The Holy Spirit, the True Interpreter” coming out of Gen. 41
There was none who could interpret Pharaoh’s dream. There was none who could open the seal.
Revelation 5:3-4 “And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. [4] And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.”
The Lamb was the Only One worthy to open the book.
Revelation 5:5-8 “And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. [6] And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. [7] And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. [8] And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.”
The Lamb of God (Jesus Christ) has taken His place at the Right Hand of the Father. He (Jesus Christ) has come to us today in the form of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit ( the Coat of many colors in the days of Joseph ) was the Only Interpreter. He is likewise the Only interpreter today.
Let’s read:
Genesis 41:1-3 “And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river. [2] And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow. [3] And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.”
Cattle (Kine) does not come out of rivers. Only fish and sea animals come out of rivers. This is a first sign that Pharaoh’s dream was orchestrated by the Lord. He is the River. Jesus Christ is the River of life.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:4-6 “And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke. [5] And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good. [6] And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.”
Note that the corn came out of the blasted east wind.
God will reveal himself through the wind, sometimes through the fire, and most times through the still small voice.
1 Kings 19:11-13 “And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord ; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: [12] And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. [13] And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?”
Today, His Word comes to us through the Mighty Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit interprets the Word line by line.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:7-8 “And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream. [8] And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.”
There was none that could interpret the dream to Pharaoh.
My dear brother or sister, there is none that con interpret the Word of God to you.
If you have not received the Holy Spirit Baptism, you have no concept (interpretation) of the Word of God.
You can be called a scholar, theologian, Cardinal or Priest. Without the infilling Holy Spirit Baptism, you cannot have the proper interpretation of the Word of God.
Pharaoh could find none to interpret his dream. None!
It will only take the Coat of Many Colors.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:9-12 “Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day: [10] Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker: [11] And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream. [12] And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.”
The Holy Spirit will interpret to the man or woman exactly how the Word of God applies to their specific circumstance.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:13-15 “And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged. [14] Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh. [15] And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.”
May your heart be pricked today, and run to the Lord that you have heard only the Holy Spirit can interpret His Word, so you want the Holy Spirit Baptism.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:16-25 “And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace. [17] And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river: [18] And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow: [19] And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness: [20] And the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine: [21] And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke. [22] And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good: [23] And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them: [24] And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me. [25] And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.”
The dream is the Word of God. The Word is given by God, and only God the Holy Spirit can break it down to man.
The two dreams are one. The Word of God (Old Testament or New Testament) is one. He is the Same God of the Old Testament and the New Testament. His name is Jesus Christ.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:26-32 “The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one. [27] And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine. [28] This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh. [29] Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt: [30] And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land; [31] And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous. [32] And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.”
God has doubled His Word to us in the form of the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Same Word, the Same God, the Same Jesus Christ.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:33-38 “Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt. [34] Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years. [35] And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. [36] And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine. [37] And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants. [38] And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is ?”
The heathen Pharaoh quickly saw the Coat of Many Colors.
Do you see the Coat Many Colors?
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:39 “And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art .”
There is no wisdom outside the Holy Spirit. None!
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:40 “Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.”
The heathen Pharaoh did not just see the Coat of Many Colors. He also saw the Word. The Word comes with the Coat of Many Colors.
Luke 3:21-22 “Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, [22] And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
Jesus Christ (the Word) came to John to be baptized, and the Dove (Holy Spirit) descended on Him.
The Word always brings the Spirit. The Word comes to us, then the Spirit follows.
When the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) comes to dwell in a man or woman, then God is pleased with them. They have received (believed) the Word, and God had justified their faith by descending (baptizing) on them in the Form of the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit of God will not descend on anything but His True Word. We cannot receive the Holy Spirit Baptism until we are lined up with the Word.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:41-42 “And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. [42] And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck.”
May you take off all your rings of pride and stiffneckness, and follow after the Holy Spirit. Open your heart to the Holy Spirit Baptism, and let Him become your everything.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:43-44 “And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. [44] And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”
A beautiful typology here. Joseph sat at the right hand of pharaoh, and none could come to Pharaoh except through Joseph. Likewise, Jesus Christ sits today at the Right Hand of God the Father, and none can come to the Father except through Jesus Christ.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:45-46 “And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnath-paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. [46] And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.”
Joseph, a type of Christ, was given a Gentile wife just like Jesus Christ is given a Gentle bride (the Church).
Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh, beginning his ministry. Likewise, Jesus Christ was thirty years old when He was presented to the world.
Luke 3:23 “And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli.”
Glory to God!
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:47-54 “And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls. [48] And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same. [49] And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number. [50] And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On bare unto him. [51] And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house. [52] And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. [53] And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended. [54] And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.”
When the Spirit comes and dwell, you will never run out of bread. Poverty may surround your land . You may live in the most poorest country but will never run out of bread because the Word of God will create for you all that you need. David said beautifully.
Psalm 37:25 “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”
With the Word of God in your mouth to others, you becoming a revelation of Him to others, He will never forsake you or make you lack.
We continue our reading:
Genesis 41:55 “And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.”
In need of bread. In need of sustenance? Go to Christ, and what He said to you, do.
Today, He says we should receive the Coat of Many Colors (Holy Spirit)
We conclude our reading:
Genesis 41:56-57 And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt. [57] And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn ; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.”
The world will come to you if you have the Word and the Holy Spirit, for you have the Bread of life, baked (sanctified) by the Spirit of God.
Let the Word of God draw the Dove (Holy Spirit) to descend upon you. Believe and confess Christ as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. There is only One Interpreter, in Christ!
