DEVOTION 92: “The Proper Offering” coming out of Lev. 2

United with God through Christ, God becomes a sweet savor in our nostrils (we love Him above all), and we become a sweet savor in His nostrils, as one body in Christ.

Let’s read:

Leviticus 2:1 “And when any will offer a meat offering unto the LORD, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon:”

We must be saved and filled with the Holy Spirit.
Any offering we bring to God must come through Christ in us. He dwells in us in the Form of the Holy Spirit.
Faith in Christ is the offering we bring to God. Nothing else we bring outside of Christ is accepted by God.

Genesis 4:2-5 “And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. [3] And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. [4] And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: [5] But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.”

Cain was just as religious as Abel. They both loved God and so brought offerings. But God will only accept the offering that typified Christ the Lamb, and nothing else.

We continue our reading:

Leviticus 2:2-3 “And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: [3] And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons:' it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire.”

In oneness with God, His sweet savor becomes our sweet savor, His Joy becomes our  joy.
Just as a remnant of the offering belongs to Aaron and his sons, the remnant of everything that belongs to God becomes ours in Christ. His Peace becomes our peace, His Righteousness becomes our righteousness, His Love becomes our love.

We continue our reading:

Leviticus 2:4-5 “And if thou bring an oblation of a meat offering baken in the oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil. [5] And if thy oblation be a meat offering baken in a pan, it shall be of fine flour unleavened, mingled with oil.”

The offering must match Christ exactly. Remember Christ is the Word, and we must match Christ exactly in Word and not by the Serpent’s interpretation.
We must line up exactly with the Word.

We continue our reading:

Leviticus 2:6-9 “Thou shalt part it in pieces, and pour oil thereon: it is a meat offering. [7] And if thy oblation be a meat offering baken in the fryingpan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil. [8] And thou shalt bring the meat offering that is made of these things unto the LORD: and when it is presented unto the priest, he shall bring it unto the altar. [9] And the priest shall take from the meat offering a memorial thereof, and shall burn it upon the altar: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.”

Abel’s offering was a sweet savor in the nostrils of God because it lined up with the Word.

Hebrews 11:4 “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.”

Abel is asleep (dead)  but his sacrifice still speaks because that sacrifice was, and is Christ.

We continue our reading:

Leviticus 2:10 “And that which is left of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons': it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire.”

Everything He is, we are. Everything He has belong to us in Christ.

Ephesians 1:11 “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.”

We inherit Eternal Life (God) through Christ. We inherit Healing (God) through Christ. We inherit Wisdom (God)  through Christ.

We conclude our reading:

Leviticus 2:11-16 “No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto the LORD, shall be made with leaven: for ye shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of the LORD made by fire. [12] As for the oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the LORD: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour. [13] And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt. [14] And if thou offer a meat offering of thy firstfruits unto the LORD, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears. [15] And thou shalt put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon: it is a meat offering. [16] And the priest shall burn the memorial of it, part of the beaten corn thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.”

The offering must not have any leaven (sin) and must be seasoned with salt (lined up with the Word) and God will always match it.

Let the Word of God bring you in line with Him. BELIEVE, and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. When our offering is rejected, we are rejected. When our offering is received, we are received, in Christ!
