“He Opened Not His Mouth”

Reference: Psalms Chapter 38

Isaiah 53:7-10 “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. [8] He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. [9] And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. [10] Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.”

He took our guilt so we could take His innocence.
He died the death of a sinner so we may live the life of the righteous.
He was forsaken so we could be welcomed.

David writes “ forsake me not.”

Let’s read:

Psalm 38:1-5 “O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. [2] For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore. [3] There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. [4] For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. [5] My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.”

Man was created not to be sick, not to die.  But the foolishness of unbelief was introduced in the garden of Eden.

Genesis 3:4 “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:”

She believed the Serpent instead of God.

Unbelief leads to sin.
Sin leads to disease.
Disease leads to death.

Unbelief is always foolishness in retrospect.

The wages of unbelief is sin, disease and death.

We continue our reading:

Psalm 38:6-13 “I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. [7] For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh. [8] I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart. [9] Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee. [10] My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me. [11] My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off. [12] They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. [13] But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.”

The Savior took our penalty of sin. He opened not His mouth. He took our place in crucifixion so we might take His place in resurrection.

We believe in Him and are free from sin, free from the ultimate disease of death.

John 11:25-26 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: [26] And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”

His shed blood is the only answer to the wages of sin (death) in anyone who would believe.

We continue our reading:

Psalm 38:14-21 “Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs. [15] For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God. [16] For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me. [17] For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me. [18] For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin. [19] But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied. [20] They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is. [21] Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.”

David was walking in hope. Today, we walk in faith.
We cannot be forsaken for Christ has already been forsaken for us.
We don’t have an enemy to fight for Christ has already defeated every enemy for us.
We don’t ask Him to get closer to us for He is already in us.

We are one with Him.

We conclude our reading:

Psalm 38:22 “Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.”

We do not cry for help for He has already helped us.
We do not cry for salvation for He has already saved us.
We do not cry for healing for He has already healed.

We simply accept His help, His salvation, and His healing by faith.

Let go every unbelief and doubt. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. He has done it all for us, in Christ!
