Devotion 498
“The Lord Heard And Defended”
Reference: Psalms Chapter 20
It’s a finished work.
David writes.
Let’s read:
Psalm 20:1-2 “The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; [2] Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion.”
He heard and defended by sending Jesus Christ to the Cross. Today, He has sent us help in the Person of the Holy Spirit.
John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
The Holy Spirit, dwelling in us today, is the Helper, Comforter, Tutor, and Counselor.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 20:3 “Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.”
He accepted the offering when He accepted the Blood Sacrifice of Christ on our behalf. No other offering will God accept. He rejected Cain’s offering for it was without blood.
Genesis 4:5-7 “But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. [6] And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? [7] If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”
God respects the Blood and nothing else.
God respects faith but must be faith in the Blood.
God respects obedience but must be obedience to the Blood.
God respects love but must be love in the Blood.
God respects worship but must be worship by the Blood.
This probed the question from Isaac. Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?
Genesis 22:7 “And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
It’s either the Lamb for the Burnt offering or it’s not respected by God.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 20:4-5 “Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. [5] We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.”
The Counselor (the Holy Spirit) has been sent out by the Father to any who would believe.
Today, He is Jehovah Nissi - Jesus Christ our Victory Banner. The victory achieved for us by the finished work of the Cross.
We conclude our reading:
Psalm 20:6-9 “Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. [7] Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. [8] They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. [9] Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.”
We trust only in His finished work.
He hears, for He is with us and in us.
John 14:20 “At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.”
Today is that day.
Let the Word of God bring you to His finished work. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. He heard, defended, and is counseling, in Christ!
