“Kept By The Word”

Reference: Psalms Chapter 17
The Word of God keeps us from the Enemy, and from the world.

The Word of God is the water of separation which the enemy cannot cross.

Numbers 19:5-9 “And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn: [6] And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer. [7] Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even. [8] And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even. [9] And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it is a purification for sin.”

The burnt red heifer with cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet typifies Christ and His redemption work on the Cross. This is the water of separation that the Enemy cannot cross to the believer.

Faith applied to the Word of God is the sword that defeated every enemy.

Ephesians 6:16-17 “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”

His Word kept David from the Destroyer.

Let’s read:

Psalm 17:1-4 “Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips. [2] Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal. [3] Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. [4] Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.”

The Enemy can cross our doctrines, theologies, and denominations. The only thing the Enemy cannot cross is the water of separation; burnt heifer, cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet. The work of the Cross defeated the Enemy (Satan) completely.

The Work of the Cross separated the sinner from their sin completely, and therefore separates the sinner from Satan (the destroyer) completely. Nothing else will protect the believer from Satan.

We continue our reading

Psalm 17:5 “Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.”

The path of God is the Word of God. We are sanctified and kept by the washing of the Word.

Ephesians 5:26 “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.”

Faith applied to the Word keeps us on the path of God.

We continue our reading:

Psalm 17:6-13 “I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech. [7] Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. [8] Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, [9] From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. [10] They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly. [11] They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth; [12] Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. [13] Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:”

The Word of God is the Sword of God that delivers.

Matthew 10:34 “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.”

This Sword delivers us from every alliance, and unites us with God. This Sword of God is God.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

God is His Word. The Word of God is the Sword of God. Jesus Christ is the Word and Sword of God.

We conclude our reading:

Psalm 17:14-15 “From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. [15] As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.”

The likeness of God comes only by our oneness with Him.

John 17:21-26 “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. [22] And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: [23] I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. [24] Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. [25] O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. [26] And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

One with Him in Word, glory, and Love.

David was satisfied when he awoke in His likeness.

We are satisfied today walking in His likeness. For we have His Word and His Spirit, the Holy Spirit.

Let the Word of God transform you into the likeness of God. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. We are transformed, protected, and kept by the Word, in Christ!
