“Fear, A Form Of Sickness”
Reference: Psalms Chapter 46
Fear is a symptom of unbelief.
In the Garden of.Eden was God and His children (Adam and Eve). They believed God and He Loved them. They lived in a perfect harmonious state.
Then came Satan (the Serpent) selling unbelief. He sold unbelief to Eve and she bought it.
Genesis 3:4 “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:”
She believed the Serpent, which means she did NOT believe the Word of God.
Unbelief is simply doubting or believing NOT the Word of God.
The unbelief of Eve led to sin, sin led to fear, sickness, and ultimately death.
Therefore the Word of God states that unbelief is the sin. Unbelief is the sin that condemns. He that believes not (unbelief) is ALREADY condemned.
John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
We are not condemned because of sin but because of unbelief. We sin because we believe not the Word of God.
Fear is simply a symptom of unbelief.
Faith in the Word of God, which is the opposite of unbelief, is the answer to fear.
The psalmist reminds us to fear not.
Let’s read:
Psalm 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. [2] Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; [3] Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.”
Jesus Christ is the refuge and strength of the believer (the man or woman who have placed their heart on the Word of God).
No matter the storm, mountains or valleys, the believer has overcome all things. For the believer has eternal life today. Not tomorrow but today, now!
Satan can never take eternal life from the believer no matter what challenges are allowed to come their way. As long as a man or woman believes, the worse Satan can do is bring death, which simply brings the believer to the presence of Christ.
Satan only wins if he gets a man or woman to die in unbelief!
We continue our reading:
Psalm 46:4-5 “There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. [5] God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.”
Jesus Christ is the source of the River.
He was the River (Holy Spirit) out of the Rock (Jesus Christ) the followed them in the wilderness.
Numbers 20:11 “And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.”
He is the Source of the River (Holy Spirit) flowing from the throne of God.
Revelation 22:1-2 “And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. [2] In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
The River is flowing today, healing the nations.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 46:6-7 “The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. [7] The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”
He promised to be with us, and in us.
John 14:19-20 “Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. [20] At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.”
He came to be with us and in us in the Person of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.
What is it therefore to fear if we believe Him?
God the Holy Spirit in a man or woman is their refuge and strength.
We conclude our reading.
Psalm 46:8-11 “Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. [9] He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. [10] Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. [11] The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”
No power or principality is to be feared as long as faith has met the requirement of God which is the Blood of the Lamb. This provided the believer access to the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. This is the refuge and strength of the Church.
Let the Holy Spirit be your refuge and strength. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. The River is flowing, in Christ!
