“God Is Obligated To His Word”

Reference: Psalms Chapter 40

The same Holy Spirit that reveals the Promise is the same Holy Spirit that will fulfill the Promise.

God is obligated to fulfill every one of His Promises.

Faith lives in expectancy of the manifestation of the fulfilled Word of God, as the Holy Spirit directs.

The volume of the Book was written before He showed Himself as a man.

David, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit writes.

Let’s read:

Psalm 40:1-7 “I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. [2] He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. [3] And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. [4] Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. [5] Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. [6] Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. [7] Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me.”

He did not sacrifice Himself for God but for man.

For man to live, something has to give its life. If we eat beans, the beans had to be uprooted from the farm. The beans had to give its life so we may have life. If we ate chicken, the chicken gave its life so we may have life.

Jesus Christ gave His life so that in eating (faith in it) we may have life eternal.

He did not give His life for God to live, He gave His life for man to live.
He was slain from before the foundation of of the world not for God but for man.

We continue our reading:

Psalm 40:8 “I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

The Will of God is to redeem His lost children, to bring them back in fellowship, to dwell in their hearts.

The Son brought the Father into the hearts of those who would receive Him.

John 1:12-13 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Born of the Will of the Father, born of God.

We continue our reading:

Psalm 40:9-10 “I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest. [10] I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.”

The Son preached His righteousness, faithfulness, salvation, lovingkindness, and truth. He demonstrated it in His crucifixion and resurrection.

We continue our reading:

Psalm 40:11-16 “Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. [12] For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me. [13] Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me. [14] Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil. [15] Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha. [16] Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.”

With His righteousness, faithfulness, salvation, lovingkindness, and truth in our hearts, we cannot help but magnify Him.

We conclude our reading:

Psalm 40:17 “But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.”

Today, we need not, we want not, for the Lord is our shepherd. He has fulfilled every need and every want by His finished blood shed. He has already provided, helped, and delivered.

He is no longer tarrying. He has gone to the Cross, and fulfilled His promise which was from before the foundation of the world.

Let the Word of God replace your word. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. God stands by His Word, in Christ!
