“He Has Already Delivered”
Reference: Psalms Chapter 71
When the children of Israel were in Egypt, whoever placed the blood on their doorpost was already delivered from the Angel of death.
God had already placed them in the Promise Land even before they were in Egypt. The promise was made to Abraham even before Isaac.
Genesis 15:13-14 “And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; [14] And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.”
God taught Abraham a lesson on what He would do on the Cross when He separated the burnt sacrifices except for the turtledoves.
Genesis 15:9-10,12,17 “And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. [10] And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. [12] And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. [17] And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.”
Abraham played no part in this covenant. It was all of God’s doing. It was not the faith of Abraham that chose him but the Grace of God.
It was not the faith of the seed of Abraham that chose them but the Grace of God.
On the Cross, God divided Jesus Christ by taking out His Spirit. He placed the Body of Jesus Christ on His right hand and sent the Spirit of Christ to the Church who is the spiritual seed of Abraham.
God did not choose us because of our faith but because of His Grace.
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
He died for us when we were yet unbelievers.
Our salvation has nothing to do with our faith. It was all the Grace of God.
Now that He has chosen Abraham, revealed His Grace to him, Abraham could walk in faith (believing God) for everything else.
Now that He has chosen us in Christ, revealed His Grace to us, we can walk in faith (believing God) for everything else.
The Psalmist prays for God’s protection.
Let’s read:
Psalm 71:1-2 “In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. [2] Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.”
Today, we know He has chosen us by His Grace, saved us, and keeps us covered under the Wings of His Spirit, far above every principality and power, visible or invisible.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 71:3-9 “Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. [4] Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. [5] For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth. [6] By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee. [7] I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge. [8] Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. [9] Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.”
He did not deliver us to throw us away. He delivered us to Himself eternally.
When our physical health fails, we have a new life (Eternal Life) in a new glorified body.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 71:10-20 “For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, [11] Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him. [12] O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help. [13] Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt. [14] But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. [15] My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. [16] I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. [17] O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. [18] Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. [19] Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee! [20] Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.”
The Psalmist had the revelation of the resurrection. Jesus Christ is the resurrection.
John 11:25 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:”
He will bring every one who believes in Him from out of the depths of the earth.
We conclude our reading:
Psalm 71:21-24 “Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. [22] I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. [23] My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed. [24] My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.”
If animal blood kept the Angel of death away, how much the Blood of Jesus Christ on the doorpost of the heart of the Believer?
Rest your faith on the Word of God. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. His blood has already delivered, in Christ!
