Devotion 521
“The Health Of My Countenance”
Reference: Psalms Chapter 43
The countenance of a man or woman is their facial look or expression.
The Life (Holy Spirit) in the Blood of Christ gives a believer a particular countenance. This countenance provided by the Holy Spirit was the secret behind the beauty of Sarah.
Genesis 12:11-12,14-15 “And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: [12] Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. [14] And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. [15] The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.”
There were many young beautiful women in Egypt than grandmother Sarah, but the countenance the Holy Spirit provides cannot be matched by any other.
Women today mar that Holy Spirit countenance with artificial eye lashes, makeup, and so on.
A child of God in Christ is to allow the Holy Spirit to express their exact countenance God determined before they were formed in the womb.
The Lord is the health of David’s countenance.
Let’s read:
Psalm 43:1-2 “Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man. [2] For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”
The strength of the child of God in Christ is the Blood of Christ.
Revelation 12:10-11 “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. [11] And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
The Life (Holy Spirit) in the Blood of Jesus Christ overcame the Enemy (Accuser) and makes the believer immune to him.
The Life in the Blood of Christ heals us, fights for us, protects us, speaks for us, and provides us with a specific countenance.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 43:3 “O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.”
David’s prayer was answered when God sent His Son Jesus Christ. He is the Light.
John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
He is the Truth.
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Jesus Christ is the only one that brings men and women into the tabernacle of God.
We conclude our reading:
Psalm 43:4-5 “Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God. [5] Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”
He puts a joy in the heart of the believer, and provides a countenance like no other. He is God the Holy Spirit, the Life released out of the broken blood vessels of Christ.
Let the Spirit of God fill your heart. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. The health of our countenance, in Christ!
