“Man Believing Man.”
Reference Jeremiah chapter 43
The people did not believe the Word of God through Jeremiah. This has been one of the problems with the world. God can only reach man through another man. That is why He became a man. God has created this universe that he may relate to every person, but He cannot do that because God is a Spirit, and this Holy Spirit doesn't have hands, feet, and eyes to communicate with individuals like a man. For God to relate with man, God became a man and dwelled among men and spoke to the world as a man. God today has placed the same Spirit and Word in other men that people may hear and believe Him to be in the middle of this world.
The people did not believe Jesus Christ because they considered Him a mere man. They thought He was a man making Himself God, and that was the reason He was crucified for blasphemy.
Today, God communicates with the world through His Spirit, through His written word, and through other men and women indwelled by His Spirit.
Many believe in God that they have not seen, but not in the man that they have seen. By not believing the man or woman indwelt by the Spirit of God, they miss God, just as they missed Him in Jesus Christ when He walked on earth. The people believed in God, but not in Jeremiah.
Let's read.
Jeremiah 43:1-3 “And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, even all these words, [2] Then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the LORD our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there: [3] But Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon.”
The people went contrary to the Word of God, not because they did not believe God, but because they did not believe in Jeremiah.
The earth opened up and swallowed up the house of Korah and other men because they did not believe in Moses.
Numbers 16:2-5,28-32 “And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: [3] And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? [4] And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face: [5] And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him. [28] And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind. [29] If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me. [30] But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. [31] And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them: [32] And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.”
God has always dealt with man through other men. If the word of the man or woman lines up with the Word of God, then the individual must be believed. Only God knows tomorrow, so if a man or woman speaks of something that will happen in the future and that comes to pass, that individual must be believed. If the individual says something about the future that does not come to pass, then he or she should not be believed.
Jeremiah had told them many things that had come to pass, but they failed to believe him because he is a man. It was not our work that God was from Jeremiah by His Word.
We conclude our reading.
Jeremiah 43:4-13 “So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah. [5] But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, whither they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah; [6] Even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzar–adan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah. [7] So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they even to Tahpanhes. [8] Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying, [9] Take great stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah; [10] And say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them. [11] And when he cometh, he shall smite the land of Egypt, and deliver such as are for death to death; and such as are for captivity to captivity; and such as are for the sword to the sword. [12] And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace. [13] He shall break also the images of Beth–shemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.”
The people suffered this loss because they did not believe in the word of Jeremiah as the word of God. Jesus Christ was hung on a cross because they did not believe the Word of Jesus Christ as the Word of God.
Test all spirits and make sure they are of God. BELIEVE and confess Jesus Christ, the Word of God, as we reveal Him from the first Adam. God works through men and women, in Christ!
