“Promotion Comes Not From The East, West, North or South”

Reference: Psalms Chapter 75

Promotion comes from humility to the Cross.

Philippians 2:8-11 “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. [9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: [10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

That was true for Jesus Christ.
That was true for Abel.

Hebrews 11:4 “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.”

That was true for Abraham.

Genesis 22:16-18 K”And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: [17] That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; [18] And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”

And that is true for every believer who will go the way of dying with the Lamb.

The message of the Cross is not simply Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The message is Jesus Christ and you and Him crucified.

We must be crucified with Christ. Die, be buried, and resurrect with Him. That is the humility that brings promotion.

There is only one way to be promoted by God, and that is through our death on the Cross.

Asaph points to the source of promotion.

Let’s read:

Psalm 75:1 “Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.”

At that time, His Name was near. Today, we know His Name as Jesus Christ. We know His wondrous work of the Father.

Luke 2:49-50 “And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? [50] And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.”

The wondrous work of the Father was the Cross. The Work that began before the foundation of the world.

We will grow in stature with God and man if we are about the Father’s business of the Cross.

Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”

The Cross is for us to die with our Lamb. Abel died with His Lamb. He was accepted and Cain rejected.

Everyone that brought an animal sacrifice to the temple had to place their hand on the animal. They died with their lamb in identification. That was the only way they were accepted. That’s the only way we are promoted with God.

We continue our reading:

Psalm 75:2-6 “When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. [3] The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. [4] I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: [5] Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. [6] For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.”

Speaking with a stiff neck is pride. The answer to pride is the Cross where we die to ourselves. We die to every thought, plan, idea or vision. We resurrect with the mind of Christ, and the thoughts and visions of God.

Philippians 2:5 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”

We cannot have the mind of Christ until we die and resurrect with Him.

We conclude our reading:

Psalm 75:7-10 “But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. [8] For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them. [9] But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. [10] All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”

God accepts or rejects man based on what they do with the Altar (the Cross).

Genesis 4:6-7 “And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? [7] If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him."

Abel in contrast was promoted.

Hebrews 11:4 “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.”

Every man or woman that humbles themselves to the Cross shall be exalted by God.

Let us humbly come and die on the Altar of the Cross with the Lamb . BELIEVE and confess Christ the Lamb as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Promotions come by our death at the Cross, in Christ!
