Devotion 156
DEVOTION 156: “The Word; an Expression of His Thought” coming out of Deu. 3
Before they come out as words, your words are your thoughts. Before the Word came from God to anyone, they were His thoughts. Before the Word created the universe, they were simply His thoughts.
Before the Word came to Abraham, the Promised Land was the thoughts of God. It had already come to pass before He shared it with Abraham. His words are perfect, His thoughts are perfect, He is perfect.
The thoughts of God is like an artist on a canvas. He thought about creation, redemption, and eternal life, and then they became a reality.
He is His thought. He is His Word. He has no beginning. So His thought and His Word has no beginning. They are also eternal.
For anything to be eternal, it cannot have a beginning. That means those who received eternal life have no beginning. Anything that has a beginning must have an ending. The Word has no beginning, has no ending. Even heaven has an ending.
Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
The Word has no beginning and has no ending because the Word is God.
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
We are eternal beings when we are indwelled by the Word.
The Word was there before the beginning, and the Word will be there when all is done away with. Anything that will be forever will have to be one with God in Word.
Having eternal life means we were part of Him even before the foundation of world. That’s why He knew Jeremiah before he was formed in the womb. Jeremiah was His thought before the foundation of the world. Before God ever said a word to Abraham, He had everybody in Christ today in mind. He knew His children even before the foundation of the world.
He knows what we will do, and what will become of us even before we were formed.
He proved His thoughts on the Cross, and the resurrection morning. Remember the One on the Cross was His Word.
God manifesting His thoughts through Moses.
Let’s read:
Deuteronomy 3:1-2 “Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. [2] And the LORD said unto me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.”
Fear is a symptom of unbelief. Moses will only fear if he doubted the Promise of God not just to him but to Abraham, even before Moses was born.
Exodus 33:1-2 “And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it: [2] And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.”
If we know we are part of God (eternal life) then there is nothing to fear, there is no reason to doubt. If we know we were promised in Abraham before we were born, then we have nothing to fear or doubt.
We continue our reading:
Deuteronomy 3:3-20 “So the LORD our God delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining. [4] And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. [5] All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many. [6] And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city. [7] But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves. [8] And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Hermon; [9] (Which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the Amorites call it Shenir;) [10] All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. [11] For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man. [12] And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites. [13] And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants. [14] Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the coasts of Geshuri and Maachathi; and called them after his own name, Bashan–havoth–jair, unto this day. [15] And I gave Gilead unto Machir. [16] And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon half the valley, and the border even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon; [17] The plain also, and Jordan, and the coast thereof, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, under Ashdoth–pisgah eastward. [18] And I commanded you at that time, saying, The LORD your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all that are meet for the war. [19] But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (for I know that ye have much cattle,) shall abide in your cities which I have given you; [20] Until the LORD have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also possess the land which the LORD your God hath given them beyond Jordan: and then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.”
Amen! Everything promised by the Lord to the biological seed of Abraham He fulfilled. Where is therefore the doubt?
Everything the Lord has promised to the spiritual Seed of Abraham is fulfilled, and being fulfilled.
His Word will come to pass because He has thought, and seen the end from the beginning. Before it becomes a Word He had already accomplished it in His thoughts, in His mind.
Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
Where did He know Jeremiah? In His mind. In His thoughts. Jeremiah was a thought of God before He formed him. Jeremiah is just now finding out.
We are just now finding out we began as His thought before the foundation of the world.
We conclude our reading:
Deuteronomy 3:21-29 “And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto these two kings: so shall the LORD do unto all the kingdoms whither thou passest. [22] Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you. [23] And I besought the LORD at that time, saying, [24] O Lord GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might? [25] I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon. [26] But the LORD was wroth with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter. [27] Get thee up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan. [28] But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see. [29] So we abode in the valley over against Beth–peor.”
Moses, a type of Jesus Christ. will die on this tick. tHe will resurrect on the Mount of Transfiguration.
Joshua, a type of the Holy Spirit will be bringing the people into the Holy Land. He will be dividing the promised inheritance to the people.
John 14:16-19 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; [17] Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. [18] I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. [19] Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.”
God the Father, God the Word, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. The same Person.
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
As the moon is a reflection of the sun so is the Old Testament a reflection of the New.
The Old Testament is simply a shadow of the New Testament. Everything that’s happening now is what happened already in the Old Testament because they all come from one Word, one Thought, one God.
Let the Word of God link you with eternal life. BELIEVE, and confess Jesus Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. His Word are His thoughts expressed, in Christ!
Before they come out as words, your words are your thoughts. Before the Word came from God to anyone, they were His thoughts. Before the Word created the universe, they were simply His thoughts.
