Devotion 63

DEVOTION 63: “Redemption: from Sin to Holiness” coming out of Exo. 13

Leaven (sin) is the problem

The problem is the same, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Likewise the answer is the Same, yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

The Lord point them to refrain from leaven.

Let’s read:

Exodus 13:1-2 “And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, [2] Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.”

The Firstborn of all creation is Jesus Christ. God was teaching Israel  the Passover was a shadow of what Jesus Christ (the Firstborn) will do so that the world will Passover from death to life.

The death (judgement) of Jesus Christ on the Cross was His identification with us. We died with Him so that we will rise with Him in a new life.

In Him, we be one God’s new firstborns.

We continue our reading:

Exodus 13:3 “And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place : there shall no leavened bread be eaten.”

The strength of God in bringing us from sin (leaven) through the Cross, to unleaven (holiness).

We continue our reading:

Exodus 13:4-5 “This day came ye out in the month Abib. [5] And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.”

The Promise is to bring them to a land flowing with milk and honey. This is the Holy Land.

Today, the Promise is to bring us to the Spirit flowing with milk and honey. This is the indwelling Holy Spirit.

We continue our reading:

Exodus 13:6-9 “Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the Lord. [7] Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters. [8] And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt. [9] And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord's law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.”

Salvation is a sign to the strong Arm of God.

Salvation puts the Word of God in our mouths.

Salvation is a memorial and our testimony to the world, that we have come out of Egypt, we have come out of the world.

We continue our reading:

Exodus 13:10-15 “Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year. [11] And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee, [12] That thou shalt set apart unto the Lord all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the Lord's. [13] And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem. [14] And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the Lord brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage: [15] And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the Lord slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.”

Redemption is in Christ the Lamb of God. Jesus Christ is the Lamb that God sacrificed to redeem us. Without the sacrificial lamb they could not redeem their firstborns.

Without the Sacrifice of Christ on the Cross, God could not redeem us.

God does not make a set of laws for Himself different from man. God obeys His own laws, died as a man for man. That is the justice of God.

We continue our reading:

Exodus 13:16 “And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt.”

God did not want them to forget this day.

God does not want us to forget our day of Salvation. That’s why we will forever praise Him for the Work of the Cross.

Ezekiel 43:27 “And when these days are expired, it shall be, that upon the eighth day, and so forward, the priests shall make your burnt offerings upon the altar, and your peace offerings; and I will accept you, saith the Lord God.”

The brazen altar (the Work of the Cross) shall be remembered even in the millennial reign of Christ.

We continue our reading:

Exodus 13:17-19 “And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: [18] But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt. [19] And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.”

The prophet Joseph had requested his bones goes to the Promised Land because he knew he will be resurrected some day.

Matthew 27:51-53 “And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; [52] And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, [53] And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”

Joseph was among the saints which slept. The Word of God (Jesus Christ) dwelling in us today in the Form of the Holy Spirit is Who will bring us out of our sleep the day we take our last breath on earth.

We conclude our reading:

Exodus 13:20-22 “And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. [21] And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: [22] He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.”

The Same pillar of cloud by day and fire by night that  appeared to Moses, is Who goes before us today. He is the Same Pillar of the Holy Spirit.

Let the Word of God manifest into the Pillar for you. Believe and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. He’s the Same Pillar yesterday, today, and tomorrow, in Christ!
