“A Fixed Heart”
Reference: Psalms Chapter 108
We do not walk with God with our minds, we walk with God with our hearts.
God deals with the heart while the devil deals with our mind. I
f we will fix our heart on the Word of God, the devil stands no chance.
If Eve had fixed her heart on the Word of God, the Serpent had no chance.
If Eve had responded to the Serpent that she believed the Word of God alone, the Serpent would have had to walk away.
Jesus Christ with all His power defeated Satan not with power but with the Word of God. In every attempt, Jesus responded to Satan that “it is written.”
Matthew 4:4,7,10 “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. [7] Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. [10] Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
Eve could have defeated the Serpent with the Word just as Christ.
That means the Believer can defeat Satan with the Word at any time, place or arena by fixing their heart on the Word, no matter what comes on their mind.
We fix our eyes on Christ and our heart on the Word. This is the Believer’s perpetual victory.
The Psalmist has his heart fixed on God, and cannot help but praise Him.
Let’s read:
Psalm 108:1-3 “O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. [2] Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. [3] I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.”
Fixing our heart on God means to believe His Word alone. We are not moved by the Words of men and women but the Word of God.
The doctor says you are sick but the Word of God says you are healed.
The doctor says you are barren but the Word of God to ninety-year-old-Sarah is you shall conceive a year from now.
The devil says he will kill you but the Word of God says in Christ, you shall never die.
John 11:25-26 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: [26] And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
We fix our heart solely on the Word of God because it’s only the Word of God that cannot lie.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 108:4-7 “For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds. [5] Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth; [6] That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me. [7] God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.”
The Word of God is Holy. It cannot lie. For the Word of God is God.
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
God cannot lie. That’s what makes Him God. His Word says even Heaven and earth shall pass away.
Luke 21:33 “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”
The Word of God is God, and God cannot pass away. This is why we fix our heart on the Word of God alone no matter what comes on our mind,
We continue our reading:
Psalm 108:8-12 “Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; [9] Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph. [10] Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? [11] Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts? [12] Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.”
The help of man is vain. Man cannot help man for the problem of man is unbelief, doubt, and sin. All the help man needs is in Christ the Word of God.
Fixing our hearts on the Word of God will take care of unbelief, doubt, and sin.
We conclude our reading:
Psalm 108:13 “Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.”
Take God at His Word and see what happens.
The Believer has already overcome the enemy through God and His Word.
Fixed your heart on the Word of God. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Help has come from God, only in Christ!
