Devotion 471
“Multiplying Words Without Knowledge”
Reference: Job Chapter 35
The Accuser accuses Job of multiplying words without knowledge.
Let’s read:
Job 35:1-2 “Elihu spake moreover, and said, [2] Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?”
Christ was called a blasphemer because He said He was God. Yet the Word of God said He was God.
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Job is righteous not because Job said but because God said it. That there was nobody on earth like Job including Elihu.
Job 1:8 “And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?”
If we stand on the Word of God, every accusation falls.
We continue our reading:
Job 35:3 “For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?”
The accuser does his work with leading questions.
Genesis 3:1 “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”
Don’t listen to your doubts. Simply stand on the Word of God and the accuser has no chance.
The moment we believe the accusers’ opinion of God, we are in doubt of God, and that is exactly where the accuser wants us.
We continue our reading:
Job 35:4-5 “I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee. [5] Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.”
The accuser is always speaking in the name of God.
Matthew 24:24 “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
Hence the accuser is called the false Christ, the antichrist.
We conclude our reading:
Job 35:6-16 “If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him? [7] If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand? [8] Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man. [9] By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty. [10] But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night; [11] Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven? [12] There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men. [13] Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it. [14] Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him. [15] But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity: [16] Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.”
The accuser has only one tactic, and that’s to sow doubt and unbelief.
The believer has one solution, and that is to stay on the Word of God.
Let all accusations drop by standing on the Word. Believe and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Only Believe, and doubt your doubts, in Christ!
