“Wisdom In A Man Or Woman”
Reference: Job Chapter 28
Wisdom cannot be studied, taught, or inherited, . Wisdom cannot be purchased.
Wisdom can only be believed.
Job asks, where shall Wisdom be found?
Let’s read:
Job 28:1-12 “Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it. [2] Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone. [3] He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death. [4] The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men. [5] As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire. [6] The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold. [7] There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen: [8] The lion's whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it. [9] He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots. [10] He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing. [11] He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light. [12] But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?”
Man cannot find Wisdom. Wisdom has to find man. For Wisdom is spiritual, and can only be accessed through faith.
Wisdom is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Wisdom is the Word of God.
Wisdom in a man or woman is God dwelling in the person by His Spirit and Word.
Wisdom speaks.
John 14:20 “At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.”
Jesus Christ is the Wisdom of God.
We continue our reading:
Job 28:13 “Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.”
The price of Wisdom is the blood of Jesus Christ the Lamb of God.
1 Peter 1:18-19 “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; [19] But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”
Wisdom cannot be purchased. Wisdom cannot be researched.
Wisdom can only be believed.
We continue our reading:
Job 28:14-20 “The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me. [15] It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof. [16] It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire. [17] The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold. [18] No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies. [19] The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold. [20] Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?”
Wisdom comes by faith alone.
The Word of God, and the Spirit of God is received by faith alone.
When we are united with God by faith, we are united with Wisdom.
The work of the Cross unites man with God. The finished work of Christ is our link to Wisdom.
We continue our reading:
Job 28:21 “Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.”
Wisdom is hidden from the eyes of the prudent.
Matthew 11:25-27 “At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. [26] Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. [27] All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.”
Jesus Christ (Wisdom) is revealed to those who would believe like children, and not the wise or philosophical.
We conclude our reading:
Job 28:22-28 “Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears. [23] God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof. [24] For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven; [25] To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure. [26] When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder: [27] Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out. [28] And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.”
We depart from evil by believing His Word.
Adam and Eve departed not from evil because of unbelief. They did not believe they would die if they went contrary to the Word of God.
If we believe God, we shall reverence (fear) His Word.
Reverence the Word of God. This is Wisdom. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Wisdom is taken God at His Word, in Christ!
