“Meeting God’s Requirement”
Reference: Job Chapter 8
As long as a man or woman has fulfilled the requirement of God, they can rest peacefully.
As long as Abel brought the blood sacrifice, God had to forgive every sin. Abel’s blood sacrifice was accepted because he met God’s requirement.
Genesis 4:4 “And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:”
That’s what makes Him God. He honors His Word.
Job was perfect in the eyes of God because he met God’s requirement by believing in the blood sacrifice, and offered them continually.
Job 1:5 “And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.”
As long as faith is placed in the blood sacrifice of Christ, faith can rest peacefully in God.
Satan can bring doubts and confusion but as long as we place our faith in the finished work of Christ, we can be rest assured that God has honored our faith. For the Word of God cannot lie.
Job receives more accusations.
Let’s read:
Job 8:1-6 “Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said, [2] How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind? [3] Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice? [4] If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression; [5] If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty; [6] If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.”
God does not judge men and women by their actions. God judges men and women by the blood sacrifice.
If a man or woman never said an unkind word or never did wrong but did not have their faith in the blood sacrifice, they remain a sinner because they have not met God’s requirement.
On the other hand, if a man or woman meets God’s requirement by placing their faith in the blood sacrifice, they are righteous no matter their actions.
Righteousness comes by faith in the blood sacrifice alone. If righteousness comes by any other means, then the finished work of Christ is in vain.
Galatians 2:21 “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”
God required only the blood sacrifice from Abel, Abraham, Job, and any other, to deem them righteous.
Hebrews 11:4 “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.”
A righteous man or woman is the one who has met God’s requirement by faith in the blood sacrifice.
If faith is not in the blood sacrifice of Christ, the man or woman had not met God’s requirement, and therefore remain unrighteous.
We continue our reading:
Job 8:7-20 “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. [8] For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers: [9] (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:) [10] Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart? [11] Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water? [12] Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb. [13] So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish: [14] Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web. [15] He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure. [16] He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden. [17] His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones. [18] If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee. [19] Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow. [20] Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:”
God sees Job as perfect while Bildad sees him as imperfect. This is because God is looking at Job’s blood sacrifice while Bildad is looking at Job’s condition.
Let every man’s word be a lie. God’s Word is the only truth.
Righteousness is not based on our condition. Righteousness is based on faith in the blood sacrifice; the requirement of God.
Hebrews 10:14-18 “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. [15] Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, [16] This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; [17] And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. [18] Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.”
As long as the requirement of God is met, by faith in the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the man or woman is eternally perfect, and need no more offering for sin. This is the place of rest.
We conclude our reading:
Job 8:21-22 “Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing. [22] They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.”
Circumstances and situations have nothing to do with righteousness. Righteousness comes by meeting God’s requirement which is faith in the blood sacrifice of Christ.
When this requirement is met, the man or woman, like Abel, is deemed eternally righteous irrespective of their circumstance.
Meet God’s requirement by faith exclusively placed in the blood sacrifice of Christ. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. The requirement is faith in the perfect sacrifice of the Lamb, in Christ!
