“Who Do Men Say I Am”

Reference: Job Chapter 4

Some call Him prophet.
Some call Him Christ, the Son of God.
Some call Him the Messiah.
Some call Him God.
Some call Him Beelzebub (devil).
Some call Him blasphemer.

Some say He never existed.
Some say He is dead.
Some say He is alive.
Some even believe His body was stolen out of the grave.

Only the Father reveals the Christ.

Matthew 16:15-17 “He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? [16] And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar–jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”

Who is Job?

Let’s read:

Job 4:1-7 “Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, [2] If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking? [3] Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands. [4] Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees. [5] But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled. [6] Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways? [7] Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?”

His accuser thought he was cursed by God.
God had a different thought on His servant.

We continue our reading:

Job 4:8 “Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.”

Or maybe he is receiving the reward for His wickedness.

God was displaying the faith of His servant to the world.

We continue our reading:

Job 4:9-19 “By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed. [10] The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken. [11] The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion's whelps are scattered abroad. [12] Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof. [13] In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men, [14] Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. [15] Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up: [16] It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying, [17] Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker? [18] Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly: [19] How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth? “

Contrary to what God thinks of Job, Eliphaz thought Job could not be trusted by God.

We conclude our reading:

Job 4:20-21 “They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it. [21] Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.”

It’s what God thinks of a man that counts. God looks at the heart. Men look at the outside.

God became a man to die on a cross to redeem man. This is what God thinks of man.

A love that cannot be understood.
A love that is rejected at our own peril.

This is why men and women do not go to hell for being sinners. Men and women go to hell because they have rejected God’s love.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

He is the Love of God.

He’s revealed to some as salvation.

Luke 2:29-30 “Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: [30] For mine eyes have seen thy salvation.”

He cannot be explained. He can only be revealed.

He stands at the door of your heart today to reveal His Love to you. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Love of God as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. He remains the Love of God in the flesh, in Christ!
