“The Holy Seed”
Reference: Ezra Chapter 9
Galatians 3:16,29 “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. [29] And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
The Holy seed are those in Christ. The seed is not Holy but the Holy Spirit in the seed. It’s the Holy Spirit in us that makes us Holy seeds.
Israel, the temporal Holy seed of God, walks contrary to the Word of God.
Let’s read:
Ezra 9:1-2 “Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. [2] For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.”
Holiness cannot mingle with unholiness.
1 Corinthians 6:15-17,19-20 “Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. [16] What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. [17] But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. [19] What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? [20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”
Israel in unbelief, went contrary to the Word of God. They mingled holiness with unholiness.
We continue our reading:
Ezra 9:3 “And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.”
Ezra rent his clothes because he was in line with the Word of God. He saw the sin that the rest could not see because he believed. Sinners do not believe. Sinners do not believe the wages of sin is death.
We continue our reading:
Ezra 9:4 “Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice.”
Those that tremble at His Word are those who believe. Ezra separated the believers from the unbelievers.
God always separate Believers from Unbelievers. Noah and his family were separated from the rest of the world. The sheep will be separated from the goats.
Matthew 25:31-32 “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: [32] And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:”
We continue our reading:
Ezra 9:5-12 “And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God, [6] And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens. [7] Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day. [8] And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage. [9] For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem. [10] And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments, [11] Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness. [12] Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.“
The Word of God was clear. The commandment was give many years before.
Deuteronomy 7:2-4 “And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: [3] Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. [4] For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.”
The warming was clear. They simply did not believe, to tremble at the Word, and that was the sin. Sin is always a symptom of unbelief.
We conclude our reading:
Ezra 9:13-15 “And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this; [14] Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping? [15] O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.”
Ezra understood the only thing left was Mercy. For without Mercy, we are all consumed.
The law could not bring us to God.
Only Mercy.
That Mercy we know today is Jesus Christ. For He has already paid for every sin with His blood.
He has conquered sin for us.
He has conquered diseases for us.
He has conquered death for us.
Mercy!
We simply have to accept it in faith.
Let Mercy bring you to God. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Mercy rewriting names, in. Christ!
