“Greater is He WHO is in the Believer”

Reference: 1 Samuel Chapter 21

1 John 4:3-4 “And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. [4] Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Fear is simply a symptom of unbelief.

Let’s read:

1 Samuel 21:1-2 “Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee? [2] And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.”

In fear, David found himself speaking lies. If David only believed that his protection wouldn’t come from people or a place, but from God the Holy Spirit, he wouldn’t have to speak those lies.

Sin is always a symptom of unbelief. The unbeliever cannot help but sin. The Believer has no reason to sin. The Believer is to be dead to sin.

Romans 6:11 “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

If the Believer would only recognized he is she is alive in oneness with God. If the Believer has truly identified with Christ in His life, crucifixion, burial, resurrection, ascension, and now dwelling in him or her in the Person of the Holy Spirit, then sin is a thing of the past. He or she has become one with Christ, and has no need to sin but to simply believe.

We continue our reading:

1 Samuel 21:3-8 “Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present. [4] And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women. [5] And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel. [6] So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away. [7] Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul. [8] And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.”

David find himself running, and looking for a sword because he has not recognized the Sword of the Spirit in Him.
The Day that Samuel anointed David as king, David was king of Israel no matter what the opposing spirit in Saul did.

This is the position of the Believer. The Day that Jesus Christ defeated sin and sickness on the Cross, we were healed by His stripes no matter what the opposing spirit of disease does.

We continue our reading:

1 Samuel 21:9-13 “And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me. [10] And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. [11] And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands? [12] And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath. [13] And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.”

In unbelief, David is feigning psychosis. He has not recognized the Spirit Who is with Him greater than any opposition.

In unbelief, we act on our ideas instead of the leading of the Holy Spirit.

We conclude our reading:

1 Samuel 21:14-15 “Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me? [15] Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?”

We can fall so low when we fail to recognize Him Who is so great, is with us, and today in us.

John 14:20 “At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.”

Jesus Christ in the Believer in the Person of the Holy Spirit.

Let the Word of God bring you into recognition of He Who in you. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, in Christ!
