“What Shall We Do With Jesus Christ the Ark of God?”
Reference: 1 Samuel Chapter 5
Matthew 27:22-24 “Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. [23] And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. [24] When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.”
Pilate did not know what to do with Jesus Christ. He tried to wash his hands off Him but did not know you cannot wash your hands off the Blood of Jesus Christ. Either you place the Blood on your heart or He is forever stuck on your hands.
Herod also did not know what to do with Jesus Christ the Ark of God.
Luke 23:7-11 “And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time. [8] And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him. [9] Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing. [10] And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him. [11] And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.”
The Philistines did not know what to do with the Ark of God. He is the same Ark of God yesterday, today, and forever.
Let’s read:
1 Samuel 5:1-3 “And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Eben–ezer unto Ashdod. [2] When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. [3] And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.”
Every knee in heaven and earth shall bow to Jesus Christ the Ark of God.
Philippians 2:10 “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;”
That was the message of God to the Philistines, and it’s the message of God to the world today.
We continue our reading:
1 Samuel 5:4-8 “And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him. [5] Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day. [6] But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof. [7] And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god. [8] They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither.”
Just like Herod and Pilate, the lords of the Philistines did not know what to do with the Ark of God. There is only one thing man can do with Jesus Christ the Ark of God. It’s to believe and receive Him.
We conclude our reading:
1 Samuel 5:10-12 “Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people. [11] So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there. [12] And the men that died not were smitten with the emerods: and the cry of the city went up to heaven.”
Unbelief is the curse.
John 3:17-18 “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. [18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Believing Jesus Christ the Ark of God is the blessing.
Let the Word of God bring you to the Ark. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. He was the Ark at the time of Noah. He was the Ark at the time of Israel. He’s the Ark today, a shelter from every storm of life, in Christ!
