Devotion 203
DEVOTION 203: “Casting Lot" coming out of Josh. 16
The inheritance was divided based on the Urim (Light) and the Thummim (Perfection).
Today, our Urim and Thummim is the Word.
Let’s read:
Joshua 16:1 “And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Beth–el.”
The “Lot” was cast and based on the results, Israel will go left or right. Today, He speaks to us by His Word. If it does not line up with the Word Who is Christ, , it’s not from God.
We continue our reading:
Joshua 16:2-4 “And goeth out from Beth–el to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth, [3] And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Beth–horon the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea. [4] So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.”
They took their inheritance. Today, every promise in the Book is ours. We take our inheritance by identifying with His life, crucifixion, burial, resurrection, ascension, and now dwelling in us in the form of the Holy Spirit.
Everything Christ has belongs to the child of God in Christ. We are one with Him.
The whole of God is our inheritance. God dwelling in flesh; my flesh, your flesh.
We conclude our reading:
Joshua 16:5-10 “And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Ataroth–addar, unto Beth–horon the upper; [6] And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanath–shiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah; [7] And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan. [8] The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families. [9] And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages. [10] And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.”
Every enemy (sin) must be driven out of our hearts. Sin is always the result of unbelief. The Lord had told them to drive out every enemy. If they believed it, the Canaanites would have been driven out immediately because God said so.
But they settled with the enemy.
Many today settle with sin because we do not believe. We do not believe that everything we need has already been provided by what Christ did on the Cross.
Power over sin, Divine healing, gifts of the Spirit, Salvation, justification, baptism with the Holy Spirit, and every promise made to Abraham is available to the child of Abraham in Christ.
Let the Word be your Urim and Thummim. BELIEVE,and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Every promise in the Word is ours, in Christ!
