DEVOTION 175: “Abstaining from any Appearance of Evil” coming out of Deu. 22
A man is to dress like a man, and a woman is to dress like a woman.
Eve was taken out of the side of Adam. They had different characteristics, and God wants to preserve that difference.
The man remains the head of the woman as Christ the Word is the Head of the man.
1 Corinthians 11:3-15 “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. [4] Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. [5] But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. [6] For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. [7] For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. [8] For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. [9] Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. [10] For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. [11] Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. [12] For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. [13] Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? [14] Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? [15] But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.”
The woman is to be hidden (covered) in the man. The man is to hidden in Christ. The man with the woman hidden in him are one in Christ.
The woman was the estrogen taken out of the man. She has long hair, shorter bones, and softer skin. The woman has a small amount of testosterone.
The man has more androgen and testosterone resulting in short hair and long bones. The man has a small amount of estrogen.
God designed these internal differences. He then gave His Word for the internal to match the external.
Let’s read:
Deuteronomy 22:1-4 “Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again unto thy brother. [2] And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again. [3] In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself. [4] Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.”
We should allow God to treat others through us the way He treats us. He keeps and preserves our possessions. We should likewise allow Him to keep and preserve the things of others through us. This is the God in us reaching others by His Word.
We continue our reading:
Deuteronomy 22:5 “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.”
We abstain from appearance of evil when a man dresses like a man and a woman dresses like a woman. The man keeps a short hair like original creation, and the woman a long hair.
The woman’s long hair is her cover. The woman’s clothing should also provide a cover, and not be provocative, hiding her in the man.
The Word of God is clear; a man dressing like a woman is an abomination, and a woman dressing like a man is an abomination. The inside should match the outside.
We continue our reading:
Deuteronomy 22:6-7 “If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young: [7] But thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.”
God in us reaching others including even birds. We should allow God to care for His creation through us by His Word.
We continue our reading:
Deuteronomy 22:8 “When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.”
Build safe houses. Make provision to avoid accidents in the home. God in us by His Word is always providing safety physically and spiritually.
We continue our reading:
Deuteronomy 22:9 “Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.”
You cross breed a donkey and a horse and results in a mule. The mule cannot bear other mules because it’s a cross breed. This indicates evolution is a myth. Cross breeding is a dead end.
We continue our reading:
Deuteronomy 22:10-21 “Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. [11] Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together. [12] Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself. [13] If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her, [14] And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid: [15] Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate: [16] And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her; [17] And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city. [18] And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him; [19] And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days. [20] But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: [21] Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.”
If they believed His Word and acted accordingly, the man and the woman will live holy. Abraham believed the Word of God. We can also believe the Word of God with the same faith of Abraham. This Word of God which Abraham believed is Jesus Christ.
By believing the Word of God, we become the spiritual seed of Abraham through same Christ we believe . We meet Abraham and all believers in Christ.
The Word of God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If the Word kept Abraham, the Word will keep us.

Deuteronomy 22:22-30 “If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel. [23] If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; [24] Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you. [25] But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die: [26] But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: [27] For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. [28] If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; [29] Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days. [30] A man shall not take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt.”
God gave His Word to protect them. They were not to study or intellectualize the Word but to simply believe it. The Word of God is not for analysis just as food is not for studying. Food is for eating. Believing the Word of God is the eating.
Let the Word of God shield you from anything pertaining to evil. BELIEVE, and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Hollywood shines and glitters but the gospel glows with humility.
