Devotion 129

DEVOTION 129: “Giving a Child a Razor” coming out of Num. 12

The Word of God comes to the prophet. That’s the way of God.
The Word of God did not come to the ordinary man. God appointed prophets who were set apart exclusively for His use.

Before the razor (Word of God) could be put in the hand of Moses in the form of a rod, his hand had to be cleansed (sanctified).

Exodus 4:6-8 “And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. [7] And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. [8] And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.”

Before the Razor (the Word) could be put on the lips of Isaiah, his lips had to be cleansed.

Isaiah 6:5-8 “Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. [6] Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: [7] And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. [8] Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

Before the Razor (the Word) could be given to the Church in the form of the indwelling Holy Spirit, there had to be a crucifixion and a resurrection with Christ.

God will meet man only on His terms.

Let’s read:

Numbers 12:1-2 “And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. [2] And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.”

The Word of God came to the prophet. Hence Jesus Christ the ultimate Prophet said He is the only way to God. Moses was the only way to God in his time because Jesus Christ (the Word) was in Moses.

Hebrews 1:1-2 “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, [2] Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.”

The Word in Moses is what set him apart from the rest of the people.
The Word is the only way to God, and the Word is Jesus Christ.
Any other way to God is an idea of man, and it’s called religion; a false way.

We continue our reading:

Numbers 12:3-8 “(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) [4] And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. [5] And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. [6] And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. [7] My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. [8] With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

Moses was one with God in Word. They didn’t realize speaking against Moses was just as speaking against God.

We continue our reading:

Numbers 12:9-10 “And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. [10] And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.”

Unbelief will always kindle the anger of God.
Miriam spoke against Moses in unbelief. She did not believe that God had appointed Moses as His prophet, and the only way to God was through the prophet.

Moses, a type of Christ, married an Ethiopian woman (a Gentile) which is typified of Christ taking a Gentile bride (the Church). This was the Christ in Moses.
He is the same Jesus Christ yesterday, today, and forever.

We continue our reading:

Numbers 12:11-13 “And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. [12] Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb. [13] And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.”

Moses prayed the same prayer Jesus Christ did for His accusers.

Luke 23:33-34 “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. [34] Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”

Moses cried unto the Lord for the healing of Miriam, for Christ was in Moses.

We conclude our reading:

Numbers 12:14-16 “And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. [15] And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again. [16] And afterward the people removed from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wilderness of Paran.”

He is a just God, and all sin must be judged.

Let the Word of God bring you in line with God. BELIEVE, and confess Christ the Word, as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Before we can handle the Razor (the Word in the form of the indwelling Holy Spirit), we must be crucified and raised in a newness of life. in Christ!
