DEVOTION 102: “Birth” coming out of Lev. 12

Any birth is a mess. It doesn’t matter if it’s a human birth or an animal birth. It doesn’t matter whether the birth happens at home or at a hospital.  It’s a mess.
There is breaking of water, followed by blood, and then the life or baby.
Out of that corruption of physical birth comes the life.
The mess is what causes the mother to be infirm. To bring her back to form, she will require physical and spiritual cleansing.

God by His Word teaches as how to restore the infirm mother.

Let’s read:

Leviticus 12:1-2 “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, [2] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.”

The new mother who has brought new life is deemed unclean for seven days. For we are born in sin and corruption, pointing us to the need for cleansing — a second birth.

When a man or woman goes through the Second birth (born again) by the Blood of Christ, they are immediately cleansed.  This completes the birthing process God intends.

We continue our reading:

Leviticus 12:3-7 “And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. [4] And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled. [5] But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days. [6] And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest: [7] Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.”

The lamb,  a type of Christ, points to the requirement of the Second birth. The birth of a man or woman is incomplete until they are redeemed by the Lamb through His shed blood.

We conclude our reading:

Leviticus 12:8 “And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.”

The birth of a child of God starts out of the womb and completes in Christ. Not by joining a church, a lodge or a creed. It by simply being born again into Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:13 “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”

Let the Word of God bring you into a complete birth. BELIEVE, and confess Christ the Lamb as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Birth is complete, only in Christ!
