DEVOTION 51: “The Christ in Moses” coming out of Exo. 1
Immediately upon Birth, the command went out for all children at his age be killed.
Matthew 2:12-16 “And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. [13] And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. [14] When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: [15] And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. [16] Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.”
Satan is a spiritual being. He looks to destroy the Christ in any individual. Satan is the false christ (Antichrist) seeking to be like Christ through destruction.
He sought to destroy Moses immediately out of the womb.
Let’s read:
Exodus 1:1-7 “Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob. [2] Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, [3] Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, [4] Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. [5] And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already. [6] And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation. [7] And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.”
Why were they increasing abundantly, and being fruitful?
It was because they had the Word. The Word is the only thing that makes one increase abundantly, and to be fruitful. The Word created the universe.
God is His Word.
Jesus Christ is this Word of God. It is the Word that will soon deliver them. He is the Same Word yesterday, today, and forever.
We continue our reading:
Exodus 1:8-12 “Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. [9] And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: [10] Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. [11] Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. [12] But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.”
Nothing stands in the way of the Word of God. The Word to Abraham was to multiply him.
Genesis 22:16-18 “And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son : [17] That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; [18] And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”
That Seed was the Word. The Word if received (believed) will always possess the gates of His enemies, and nothing can stand in the way. The more Isreal was afflicted, the more they multiplied because they had the Word.
We continue our reading:
Exodus 1:13-21 “And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: [14] And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour. [15] And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: [16] And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. [17] But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive. [18] And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive? [19] And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them. [20] Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. [21] And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.”
The midwives feared (believed) the Word which means they received the Word, and out of the Word came to them houses. The Word creates.
The Word will create for us if we believe Him.
We conclude our reading:
Exodus 1:22 “And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.”
Satan trying to get ahead of the Word. Satan is always a step too late.
If you stay with the Word, Satan will always be a step too late.
Let the Word of God create for you. Believe and confess Christ as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. He was in Abraham, Isaac, Isreal, Joseph, and Moses. Today, He dwells in us permanently in the Form of the Holy Spirit, looking to reveal Himself (Word) to the world, in Christ!
