Devotion 531
“God Despises Unbelief”
Reference: Psalms Chapter 53
Hebrews 11:3,6 “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. [6] But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Understanding comes only by faith in the Word.
A man or woman without faith in the Word of God lacks wisdom and understanding. God refers to the unbeliever as a fool.
Let’s read:
Psalm 53:1 “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.”
For there to be a tree to grow out of the earth, there must first be an earth.
For a fish to have gills, there has to be water for the fish to use its gills.
For there to be hunger or thirst, there must be food or water.
For there to be a creation, there has to be a Creator.
The Unbeliever cannot comprehend these simple concepts. That’s what makes the Unbeliever a fool.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 53:2 “God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.”
The Unbeliever lacks understanding.
The world can only be understood through faith in the Word of God.
Life and death can only be reconciled through faith in the Word of God.
Heaven and Earth can only be reconciled through faith in the Word of God.
Light, darkness, time, and eternity can only be reconciled through faith in the Word of God.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 53:3-4 “Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. [4] Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.”
The Unbeliever lacks knowledge.
Knowledge comes from the First book ever written, and that is the Word of God.
Every thing known or written has its foundation in the Word of God.
Everything made by man is from something God had originally created.
God is the originator of all things. Man can only use what God has already created. Man can make a furniture but cannot create a tree.
God is the one holding all things together from creation till today. Man can plant a tree but cannot make the tree grow.
The Unbeliever has no knowledge of these simple things.
We conclude our reading:
Psalm 53:5-6 “There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them. [6] Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.”
Fear cannot be understood without God. Who can answer where fear comes from without God?
The answer to fear is Salvation; peace with God.
Salvation is an attribute of faith in the Word of God.
Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
Salvation comes by faith (the opposite of unbelief) in the shed blood of the Son of God. This is an attribute of believing the Word of God.
Let every doubt and unbelief be replaced with faith in the Word of God. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, available through Salvation, only in Christ!
