“Vain Is The Help Of Man”

Reference: Psalms Chapter 60

Man is unable to help man. For the problem from the garden is unbelief.
Unbelief leads to sin, which separates (condemns) man from God.

John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

With man separated from God, the help of another man is in vain.

It takes faith (believing) in the restoration process of God to help man. The restoration process is faith in the Blood of the Lamb. Man cannot give another man faith in the Blood of the Lamb.

Faith is not inherited, taught, practiced or physically perceived.

Faith ( to see the unseen) is only a gift of God.

Cain and Abel came out of the same womb.
Abraham and his siblings came out of the same womb.
Esau and Jacob came out of the same womb.
Joseph and his brothers came out of the same womb.
David and his siblings came out of the same womb.

We can speak of Joshua, Caleb, and Rahab. Men and women of faith.

Faith is simply a gift of God.

Faith (taken God at His Word) is the help that man needs.

If Eve had responded “I believe the Word of God” when tempted by the Serpent, the outcome would have been different.

“Vain is the help of man.” David writes.

Let’s read:

Psalm 60:1-11 “O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. [2] Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh. [3] Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment. [4] Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. [5] That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me. [6] God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. [7] Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; [8] Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me. [9] Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? [10] Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies? [11] Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.”

Like all men, nations, and kingdoms, Israel displeased God because of unbelief.

Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

God helps the one who believes Him.

The help of God is the Cross of Jesus Christ.

If a man or woman will believe the finished shed blood of Jesus Christ as the means of relationship with God, they have passed from death unto life; eternal life.

Eternal life is the restoration. For eternal life was what was lost in the garden.

We conclude our reading:

Psalm 60:12 “Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.’

The Enemy was shredded at the Cross. The Believer in Christ is now set far higher than any power and principality.

Ephesians 1:17-21 “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: [18] The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, [19] And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, [20] Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, [21] Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:”

The Believer’s union with Christ places him or her exactly where Christ sits, reigning with Him.

Revelation 5:9-10 “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; [10] And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

Receive the help of God. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. God has provided the help of restoration, in Christ!
