“In God Will I Praise His Word”

Reference: Psalms Chapter 56

God is His Word.

You know God by His Word. A man or woman is known by their word. If the word of a person cannot be trusted, the person cannot be trusted.

If a man is found to be telling a lie to the king, the man is arrested. The words of the man is not arrested but the man himself is arrested. This is because the man is his word.

God is His Word. We have faith in God by having faith in His Word. We know God when we know His Word.

God is His Word.
The Word of God became flesh called Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is God in the flesh.
Jesus Christ is the Word of God in action.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

This Word from the beginning was presented as flesh to reveal God to the world.

John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Jesus Christ is the revelation of the Word of God.

David writes, and rightfully so, “ I will praise Your Word.”

Let’s read:

Psalm 56:1-4 “Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me. [2] Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High. [3] What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. [4] In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.”

The Word of God is to be praised. Jesus Christ is to be praised. The Word of God is God. When we praise the Word of God, we are praising God.

Luke 4:36 “And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.”

Praise the Word of God.

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Praise God’s Word.

We continue our reading:

Psalm 56:5-10 “Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil. [6] They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul. [7] Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God. [8] Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? [9] When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. [10] In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.”

We praise the Word of God in faith. David recognizes God is for him by His Word. David stood upon His Word, and the Word delivered him from every enemy, even death.

John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

We conclude our reading:

Psalm 56:11-13 “In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. [12] Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee. [13] For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?”

If His Word has delivered us from death, then what’s a little enemy of cancer or heart trouble. His Word has delivered us from all things.

Let the Word of God deliver us today. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. God is His Word, in Christ!
