“The Waters Saw Him And Was Afraid”
Reference: Psalms Chapter 77
The footsteps of God are not seen by the natural eye. Faith sees the Footsteps of God. Who is Jesus Christ.
The Red Sea saw God, was afraid, and opened for the children of Israel to walk on dry ground.
If we will look to Jesus Christ the Footsteps of God, every enemy we face will tremble and recede that we may walk on them.
Asaph cried to God in his day of trouble.
Let’s read:
Psalm 77:1-11 “I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me. [2] In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. [3] I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah. [4] Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. [5] I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. [6] I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. [7] Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more? [8] Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore? [9] Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah. [10] And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High. [11] I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.”
In our desperate times, remember His wondrous work of the Shed Blood. There is nothing the God Who gave His life to save us will not do to keep us.
Romans 8:32 “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”
He did everything to keep the children of Isreal through the wilderness. He healed when they were sick, their foot fitted their shoes for forty years.
Nehemiah 9:11,15,19,21 “And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters. [15] And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them. [19] Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go. [21] Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.”
If God will do that under the Old Covenant of law, how much will He do under the New Covenant of Grace?
We simply have to believe Him. Set our hearts on His Word and not on any circumstances, symptoms, or conditions. Only believe!
We continue our reading:
Psalm 77:12-13 “I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. [13] Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?”
Today, He is not hidden behind a veil. The veil is torn down by His wondrous work of the Cross. God is now received in the sanctuary of our hearts.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 77:14-16 “Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people. [15] Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. [16] The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.”
Every over-flooded water will have to part and make way as long as we carry God in the sanctuary of our hearts.
The storms see God and He makes them hush.
Mark 4:37-40 “And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. [38] And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? [39] And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. [40] And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?”
Only believe!
We conclude our reading:
Psalm 77:17-20 “The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad. [18] The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook. [19] Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known. [20] Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.”
Today, He leads us like a flock by the Hand of the Holy Spirit.
Let Him calm every storm, and part every water for you. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Footsteps of God as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Faith sees His Footsteps, in Christ!
