“Wings Like A Dove”

Reference: Psalms Chapter 55

Jesus Christ loved His enemies.

Luke 23:33-34 “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. [34] Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”

The Spirit of Christ in us will cause us to love our enemies.

Luke 6:27-29 “But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, [28] Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. [29] And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.”

Stephen exemplified the Spirit of Christ in a man.

Acts 7:58-60 “And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. [59] And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. [60] And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.”

David lays the charges of his enemies against them.

Let’s read:

Psalm 55:1-6 “Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. [2] Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise; [3] Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me. [4] My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. [5] Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. [6] And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.”

Today, we have those wings like a dove. We have the Dove (the Holy Spirit) in us Who brings us up far above every enemy.

The Holy Spirit places us in the secret place of God where no enemy can touch us. We have one heartbeat with God Who love the world including His enemies.

John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

The Spirit of Christ in a man or woman will compel them to love and pray for the world, including their enemies.

We continue our reading:

Psalm 55:7-15 “Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah. [8] I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. [9] Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city. [10] Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. [11] Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. [12] For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: [13] But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. [14] We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. [15] Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.”

David was walking according to the letter of the Word.
Today, we walk not according to the letter but the Spirit of the Word.

2 Corinthians 3:6 “Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”

The law (letter of the Word) could not make anyone righteous, neither could it make anyone love their enemy.

It takes the Spirit of the Word, the Spirit that was in Christ to make us righteous, to make us love and pray for those who hate us.

We conclude our reading:

Psalm 55:16-23 “As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me. [17] Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. [18] He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me. [19] God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God. [20] He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant. [21] The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. [22] Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. [23] But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.”

David was praying for the destruction of his enemies.
Elisha cursed young children in anger.

2 Kings 2:23-24 “And he went up from thence unto Beth–el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. [24] And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.”

Moses struck the Rock in anger instead of speaking to it.

Numbers 20:10-12 “And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? [11] And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. [12] And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.”

Moses was not aware he did it in unbelief.

Numbers 20:7-8 “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, [8] Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.”

God means what He says. He told Moses to speak to the Rock.
He tells us to love our enemies.

Let the Spirit of Christ come and dwell in us. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. The Dove of the Holy Spirit, in Christ!
