“He Suffered Our Foot Not To Be Moved”
Reference: Psalms Chapter 66
If He has to part a red sea, the Lord will prove Himself to the world. He only needs one person who would believe Him.
With only a stick in His hand, Moses brought the children of God out of Egypt. For God was with Moses.
With only five loaves, the disciples fed five thousand. For God was with them.
With only one stone, David took down a giant. For God was with David.
The Psalmist can now write that God suffered his foot not to be moved.
Let’s read:
Psalm 66:1-3 “Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: [2] Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious. [3] Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.”
How great is His work?
His greatest work, second to creation, is redemption. He created us, and redeemed us through the work of the shed blood of the Lamb.
Every enemy is defeated through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The Life in the shed blood (the Holy Spirit) defeats every enemy of the Believer. The greatest enemy being unbelief.
Sin, sickness, death, and even Satan are all defeated by the shed blood.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 66:4-9 “All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah. [5] Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men. [6] He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him. [7] He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah. [8] O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard: [9] Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.”
It’s not the Believer holding on but He held on, at the Cross. We are now immovable because He held on and finished the work for us. He has given us the victory. We are immovable because He has given us victory over all things.
1 Corinthians 15:54-58 “So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. [55] O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? [56] The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. [57] But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. [58] Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
We labor in vain, except in faith (believe).
Psalm 127:1 “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
It’s not what we can do but what He has done. We do not try to add to what He has done. He shed His blood in vain if we could achieve victory another way.
Galatians 2:21 “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”
We simply believe what He has done and that will carry us through.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 66:10-12 “For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. [11] Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins. [12] Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.”
For anyone to be used by God must first be tried.
Abraham was tried with his only son on an altar at Mount Moriah.
Israel was tried in the wilderness.
Exodus 16:4 “Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.”
Jesus Christ was tried at the Cross.
We must be tried before we can be used of God.
We conclude our reading:
Psalm 66:13-20 “I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows, [14] Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble. [15] I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah. [16] Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul. [17] I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue. [18] If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: [19] But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. [20] Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.”
Blessed be the God of Mercy, the God of Grace, the God of Jesus Christ.
Let your foot be immovable. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. He held on,and finished the work, in Christ!
