Devotion 481
“The Shield Of Salvation”
Reference: Psalms Chapter 3
The Lord has made it very simple for mankind to be saved.
Simply believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, and you are saved.
Acts 16:30-31 “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? [31] And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
The man believed, and was saved.
The Lord will go to any length to save men and women, even to the Cross.
There is nothing we can do to save ourselves. Salvation is only of the Lord.
Today, we simply have to believe God has made every provision for us to be saved from sin and diseases. The ultimate disease being death.
Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
The provision of God is the finished work of Christ. Our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work is our acceptance of salvation.
Salvation is a shield.
Job 1:10 “Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.”
David writes about the shield of salvation:
Let’s read:
Psalm 3:1-3 “LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. [2] Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. [3] But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”
The enemy (Satan in men and women) has no means of going through the shield of God around His children.
Exodus 14:19-20 “And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: [20] And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.”
God has to remove His shield to allow in the enemy. Remember Satan only serves the purposes of God. Satan is not of his own.
We continue our reading:
Psalm 3:4-6 “I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. [5] I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. [6] I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.”
All fear is gone when we know Who is our shield.
We are not afraid when ten thousand diseases surround us.
We are not afraid when ten thousand poverty surround us.
We are not afraid when ten thousand deaths surround us.
For God by His Word is our shield.
John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
For God has become their salvation, and hence their shield from even death.
We conclude our reading:
Psalm 3:7-8 “Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. [8] Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.”
He gives the Salvation, we simply accept it by faith. It’s a finished work.
Accept your salvation by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Salvation is of the Lord, in Christ!
