“The Lord Hears, Sees, and Delivers”

Reference: Psalms Chapter 120

He hears and sees every cry of His children. He delivers them all.

He heard and saw the affliction of Hagar.

Genesis 16:11 “And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.”

He delivered her.

He heard and saw the affliction of Israel.

Exodus 3:6-7 “Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. [7] And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows.”

He delivered them.

He heard and saw the affliction of Hannah.

1 Samuel 1:9-11 “So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD. [10] And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore. [11] And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.”

He delivered her.

He heard the affliction of Jonah

Jonah 2:2 “And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.”

He delivered him.

He heard and saw the affliction of Christ.

Matthew 27:46 “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”

He delivered and crowned Him.

Philippians 2:8-11 “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. [9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: [10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

He heard and saw the affliction of Paul and Silas.

Acts 16:23-26 “And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: [24] Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. [25] And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. [26] And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.”

He delivered them.

He hears and sees the affliction of you in Christ.

Colossians 1:23-24 “If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; [24] Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:”

He has delivered us through His finished work of the Cross.

The Psalmist declares God heard his cry, and delivered.

Let’s read:

Psalm 120:1 “In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.”

He does not just hear and see but delivers His children. The greatest deliverance is from the hands of Satan through His finished work of the Cross.

We continue our reading:

Psalm 120:2-6 “Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. [3] What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue? [4] Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper. [5] Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar! [6] My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.”

Satan, the enemy of our soul, hates peace. He hates peace in our spirit, and peace in our body. But the Lord has delivered us from him by taking on our griefs and sorrows in exchange for His peace.

Isaiah 53:4-5 “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

We conclude our reading:

Psalm 120:7 “I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.”

We war no longer with the enemy. He is already defeated if we remain steadfast in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Faith in His blood sacrifice, making us one with Him, overcomes the enemy, even death.

He hears and sees your afflictions. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Deliverer as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. He delivered all His children through the Cross, in Christ!
