“The Word Came To Jeremiah”
Reference Jeremiah chapter 27
A question was posed to me recently that “God created the heavens and the earth, but where was God standing when He created the heavens and the earth? “
For this individual to ask the question means there may be a lot of people in this world with this same question.
The first thing to understand is that God is a Spirit.”
John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
God is a Spirit, meaning He lives in the spiritual dimension, which is different from the physical dimension. That means God is next to you in a spiritual dimension. Just like if I spray a perfume in the room, you cannot see the perfume or hear the perfume because they are not in the hearing or seeing dimension. You can only smell the perfume. You, as an individual, have five dimensions; hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and feeling.
God is not in your five dimensions. He is in the sixth dimension, which is the spiritual dimension. You have the ability to unite with God through the sixth dimension by your faith. That's why faith is called your sixth sense. If I'm speaking to you on the phone, your only means of contacting me is through your sense of hearing. God is in the sixth dimension. You have no means of hearing Him in the first dimension, seeing Him in the second dimension, smelling Him in the third dimension, tasting Him in the fourth dimension, or feeling Him in the fifth dimension. Your only means of contacting Him is through your sixth dimension, which is your faith. When God became a man in Jesus Christ, He gave us the ability to see Him in the physical dimension. On the amount of transfiguration, they saw Him in another dimension, more than the physical. A glory that was too bright for the naked eyes
God today is with us in the person of the Holy Spirit, and we can only contact Him through our sixth dimension, which is faith.
The Spirit of God is in His creation, is in His Word, is in His Son, Jesus Christ, and dwells in the believer today.
The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah. God gave some people the ability to relate to Him through a different dimension other than our five physical dimensions. That dimension can be vision or dreams. This is how God revealed Himself to His prophets.
Jeremiah took the Word to the people.
Let's read.
Jeremiah 27:1-10 ‘In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, [2] Thus saith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck, [3] And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah; [4] And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters; [5] I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me. [6] And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him. [7] And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him. [8] And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. [9] Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: [10] For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.”
Just like Jeremiah was a true prophet who received the Word of God, there are false prophets who prophesied lies in the name of God. They lived at the time of Jeremiah, and they live in our world today.
We continue our reading.
Jeremiah 27:11-12 “But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein. [12] I spake also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.”
The word came to Jeremiah at the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim, who reigned about 11 years before King Zedekiah. That means Jeremiah spoke of Zedekiah even before he became king, because God knew and knows the future, and He's the only one that knows the future. That's how we know the Word came to Jeremiah from another source, because Jeremiah himself had no way of knowing the future. That's what makes him a true prophet.
We continue our reading.
Jeremiah 27:13-15 “Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? [14] Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you. [15] For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you.”
I have not sent them, says the Lord. He sends men and women by giving them His Word. Today, every believer indwelt by the Holy Spirit is a messenger of God.The Holy Spirit is the messenger speaking through the body of the believer. If the individual is not indwelt by the Holy Spirit, they will be speaking a lie. They have not been sent by God.
We conclude our reading.
Jeremiah 27:16-22 “Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD'S house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you. [17] Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste? [18] But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon. [19] For thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city, [20] Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem; [21] Yea, thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem; [22] They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.”
God challenged the false prophet that if they were true prophets, they should intercede for the vessels in Jerusalem not to go to Babylon. God proved the false prophets by His Word. He said the vessels were going to Babylon. When God says anything, it's considered done, and that is what makes Him God.
God is a Spirit. BELIEVE and confess Jesus Christ, the Word of God, as we have revealed Him from the first Adam. God is in His creation. God is in His Word. God is in His Son. God is in the believer, in Christ!
