“Twenty-Three Years Of Ministry”
Reference Jeremiah chapter 25
For twenty-three years, Jeremiah rose up early, bringing to the people the Word of God, but they did not hearken. Just like in the time of Noah, God destroyed the earth with the flood, God, in the time of Jeremiah, destroyed the earth with the sword.
Let's read.
Jeremiah 25:1-3 “The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; [2] The which Jeremiah the prophet spake unto all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, [3] From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the LORD hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.”
After man has fallen in the first Adam, Satan took control of fallen man. Part of that control is that he constantly causes fallen men and women not to hearken to the Word of God. It is a constant blindness. The fallen man wants to do what is right, but he finds himself doing what is wrong.
Romans 7:14-15,17-24 “
For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. [15] For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. [17] Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [18] For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. [19] For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. [20] Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [21] I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. [22] For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: [23] But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. [24] O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”
Fallen man lost the ability to live through their faith in the Word of God. Fallen man is constantly battling the law of sin or unbelief. Fallen man is constantly wanting to live through their five physical senses and never through their sixth sense or faith in the Word of God. It is impossible for fallen man to be removed from the blood of Adam into the blood of the second Adam. This is redemption, a one-time event that happened when Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross of Calvary. The moment a fallen man places their faith in this finished work of Christ, they are removed from the blood of Adam. The fallen man now has the ability to live constantly through their sense of faith placed exclusively in the finished work of the second Adam. This fallen man, through faith, has died and risen with Christ, with their life now hidden in Christ, the second Adam. God has now become his pavilion, his hiding place.
We continue our reading.
Jeremiah 25:4-9 “And the LORD hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear. [5] They said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever: [6] And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt. [7] Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt. [8] Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words, [9] Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.”
The fury of God came not just to Israel, but to all the surrounding nations in destruction.
We continue our reading.
Jeremiah 25:10-13 “Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle. [11] And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. [12] And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations. [13] And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.”
God destroyed Babylon after he had used Babylon to destroy the surrounding nations. No one escapes rejection of the Word of God. Today, we know that the Word of God is Jesus Christ.
We continue our reading.
Jeremiah 25:14-29 “For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will r\for the LORD hath spoiled their pasture. [37] And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the LORD. [38] He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger.”
In the time of Noah, they were just dead bodies in water. In the time of Jeremiah, they were dead bodies on land, as dung. Noah warned the people for many years, Jeremiah likewise warned the people for many years, but they would not hear the word of God. Today, the same warning is going out to the world. Those who receive the word of God, Jesus Christ, shall be saved. Those who reject Him shall be destroyed.
Noah and his family were saved out of the flood. Jeremiah was saved from the destruction, and any man or woman who receives Jesus Christ today will be saved from the coming destruction. He's the same Word of God: yesterday and today.
Avoid the coming destruction. BELIEVE and confess Jesus Christ, the second Adam, as we've revealed Him from the first Adam. The warning is clear, in Christ!
