"Trusting In Flesh"

Reference: Isaiah Chapter 31

"Trusting In Flesh"

Israel was trusting in Egypt and their strong horses. The word of God comes to warn them: that trusting in Egypt and their horses, is like trusting man and flesh instead of trusting God and His Spirit.

Isaiah writes, "The Egyptians are men and not God, and their horses flesh and not spirit."

Let's read.

Isaiah 31:1 "Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!"

Looking to anything or anyone other than the Holy One of Israel, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Blood of God, the Second Adam is death. Man fell through the first blood. Man can only be restored through the second blood.

We continue our reading.

Isaiah 31:2-3 "Yet He also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. [3] Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out His hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together."

Nothing can stand in the way of the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is the power that raised Jesus from the dead, the power that brings down and lifts up nations. The power to take life and to give life. There is no power that can stand in the way of the Holy Spirit. No satanic or demonic power. God is all power, the power of His Spirit.

We continue our reading.

Isaiah 31:4-5 "For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof. [5] As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it."

Just like He did to defend Jerusalem, He fights and defends the believer by His Spirit.

2 Kings 6:15-17 "And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? [16] And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. [17] And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."

If your eyes will be open today, you will see that you are covered by horses and chariots of fire, and no demon, no power, no evil can get close to you. This chariot of fire is the Holy Spirit who dwells in the blood of God, the blood of Jesus Christ that is surrounding the believer today.

We conclude our reading.

Isaiah 31:6-9 "Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted. [7] For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin. [8] Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited. [9] And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the LORD, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem."

That Ensign of God is Jesus Christ, Who is God in the Spirit. The first time that Name came out of mortal lips, it made a fetus in the womb of his mother leap for joy.

Luke 1:41 "And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost."

His fire is in Zion, and His furnace is in Jerusalem. This fire and furnace is what's surrounding the believer today.

Be surrounded by the fire and the furnace of the Spirit of God. Believe and confess Jesus Christ, the second Adam, as we revealed Him from the first Adam. He is a chariot of fire about me, in Christ!
