Devotion 61

DEVOTION 61: “The Sign of Death ” coming out of Exo. 11

The Last sign is always death.

Jesus said there will not be another sign beyond His death on the Cross.

Matthew 12:39-40 “But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: [40] For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”

The death of Christ is the last sign God will give the world to show He is the Way to God.

God gives Egypt (the world of the day) the last sign to show that the words of Moses was the Way or Word of God.

Remember Christ has always remained the Word whether in Abraham, Joseph or Moses.

Let’s read:

Exodus 11:1 “And the Lord said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.”

He is not bringing two more  but just one more plague, and Pharaoh will let go because God says so.

Nothing stands in the way of the Word.

We continue our reading:

Exodus 11:2-5 “Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold. [3] And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people. [4] And Moses said, Thus saith the Lord, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: [5] And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.”

He is the God of the Firstborn. The death of the Firstborns, a sign to the death of the ultimate Firstborn (Christ).

Colossians 1:15 “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.”

The last sign in Egypt was the death of all firstborns, and the last sign in Jerusalem was the death of the Firstborn of God taking our place on the Cross. This is what we must identify with to be in Christ. We don’t come in Christ any other way. Not by joining a church, a denomination or learning some kind of creed.

It’s a death with Christ.

Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

It’s either death with Him or you don’t have Him.

We continue our reading:

Exodus 11:6-7 “And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more. [7] But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the Lord doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.”

The Israelites (those with Moses) and heeded the Word of God were sealed from this coming judgement.

The world will be in tribulation but those in Christ will be ruptured because we have received the Word and His Spirit.

It’s the Holy Spirit of seal that will rupture us. Without the indwelling Holy Spirit, a man or woman cannot be ruptured or resurrected.

Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”

Without the indwelling Holy Spirit, there will not be a quickening. You reject the Holy Spirit Baptism, and you reject your quickening.

We continue our reading:

Exodus 11:8 “And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.”

One day soon every knee shall bow and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

Philippians 2:10-11 “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Not some knees but every knee!

We conclude our reading:

Exodus 11:9-10 “And the Lord said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt. [10] And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.”

Pharaoh is about to experience the last sign of God.

The sign of God opens the eyes of some, and blinds others to damnation.

Let the Word of God open your eyes to that last sign. Believe and confess Christ the Word of God as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Death on a rugged Cross is the ultimate sign of revelation , in Christ!
