Devotion 15

DEVOTION 15:   “Predestination — God knows your Final Destination” coming out of Gen. 15

Abram was called-out by God in Christ even before the foundation of the world. Abraham simply had to take his position in Christ by believing the Word of God.

You can take your position in Christ today by believing the same Word of God that Abram believed.

God knows Abram’s final destination.

Let’s read:

Genesis 15:1 “After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”

His Word came to some in the past in vision. He commanded His Word to be written so that people are not destroyed but false teachings.

Today, every vision has to match His written Word for He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

He is Abram’s Shield and Great Reward because Abram has lined up himself with God. Abram has become one with God. Abram has taken his position in Christ.

He will become your Shield and Great Reward if you line up yourself with His Word.

We continue our reading:

Genesis 15:2-3 “And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? [3] And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.”

Wait a minute Abram. I your God wants children more than you do. I will populate this earth with my children through your Seed (singular). Not through the corrupted seed of the First Adam but through the Seed of the Second Adam (Jesus Christ).

We continue our reading:

Genesis 15:4-5 “And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. [5] And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.”

He was a Father even before He created anything. He was a Father before He created the stars.

He shows Abram that the children of God through the Seed of Abram will be as uncountable as the stars in heaven.

We continue our reading:

Genesis 15:6 “And he believed in the Lord ; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”

Righteousness is only in Christ. Abram believed, and took his right position in Christ.

We continue our reading:

Genesis 15:7-12 “And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. [8] And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? [9] And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. [10] And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. [11] And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away. [12] And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.”

Abram was put to deep sleep to show him that he has nothing to do with this covenant.

Abram could not save himself or do anything to warrant God’s blessings. He just had to believe the Word of God, and that lined him up exactly with God, and they now become one in Covenant.

We continue our reading;

Genesis 15:13-15 “And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; [14] And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. [15] And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.”

God knew the final destination of Abram and even his biological seeds.

He knows your final destination.

Ephesians 1:3-5 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: [4] According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: [5] Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.”

He is Elohim — self sufficient, in no need of anything. He decided to replicate Himself (have children). The children are to be part of Him through the thread of His Word. His Word created everything.

His children are lined up with Him by simply taking Him at His Word. Unbelief of the Word of God places one out of line with God. The results is catastrophe.

We continue our reading:

Genesis 15:16-17 “But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. [17] And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.”

Oh yes. God walking through those half pieces to make covenant (oneness) with Abram.

God walked through the shadows of death on Mount Calvary to make Covenant (one) with us. To bore our shame and guilt so that we may have His righteousness, peace and justification.

We continue our reading:

Genesis 15:18-21 “In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: [19] The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, [20] And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, [21] And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

To the physical seed of Abram (Israel ) it was a promised Holy Land.

To the Church (the Spiritual seed of Abram through Christ) it is the promised Holy Spirit!

Let the Word of God line you up with the Spirit of God. Believe and confess Christ the Word of God as we’ve traced Him from the First Adam. He knows your destination, in Christ!
