Devotion 8

DEVOTION 8:   “Noah’s Ark, a Type of Christ” coming out of Gen. 8

Every man, woman, boy or girl was destroyed except for those who entered the Ark ( a type of the Cross).

Every man, woman, boy or girl is set for destruction except they are in Christ by the means of the Cross.

The Cross of Christ is what lines us up with the Word of God. We are lined up with the Word of God only through death to self. We are crucified with the Word of God (Christ) and raised up with Him into a new life, reigning with Him in Heavenly places, now living in us in the form of the Holy Spirit, reconciling the world to Himself through His Word, to gather back His lost creation.

This whole thing is one; God in man, revealing Himself to His highest creation, bringing back His children who were lost due to the deception of sin.

So He destroyed a whole generation except for the one man who lined up with His Word. Those who were in Noah’s Ark ( a type of Christ here) were saved.

Likewise, the day comes when everything and everybody will be destroyed except for those in Christ by faith in the finished Ark (work of the Cross).

Believing the Ark is one thing, but we must enter the Ark to avoid judgement.

Many have joined churches, denominations or organizations but they never entered the Ark Which is Jesus Christ.

We enter the Ark just like Noah by acting on the Word. Noah acted on the Word by building the Ark, and entered the Ark. God looked at the faith of Noah, and sealed him in the Ark.

Genesis 7:16 “And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in.”

God sealed Noah in the Ark.

Today, if we believe the Word, God seals us in with the Holy Spirit of promise until the day of redemption or when the rising water subsides.

Ephesians 1:13 “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”

He seals us from the world with the Holy Spirit baptism until the day that the seals are opened.

Revelation 5:2-3 “And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? [3] And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.”

Noah was sealed in the Ark, and no man in heaven or earth could break that seal.

Only the Lamb that was slain, the One Who prevailed could break the seal.

Noah was sealed in, and now unsealed on his day of redemption because he held on to the Word of God.

Let’s read:

Genesis 8:1 “And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;”

God remembers only those in the Ark. The rest of the world was a lost memory.

God remembers only those in Christ the Word; those who have lined up with the Word.

We continue our reading:

Genesis 8:2-18 “The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; [3] And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. [4] And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. [5] And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen. [6] And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made: [7] And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth. [8] Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; [9] But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark. [10] And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; [11] And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. [12] And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more. [13] And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry. [14] And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried. [15] And God spake unto Noah, saying, [16] Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee. [17] Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth. [18] And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:”

God spoke, and Noah did not debate it, did not question it. He lined himself up exactly with the Word. The whole world is destroyed except this one man and his family, simply,y because he lined up with the Word.

If Noah had built the window in the bottom of the Ark instead of the top, he would have caused a lot of problems for himself and his family. He had to line up exactly with the Word.

We conclude our reading:

Genesis 8:19-22 “Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark. [20] And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord ; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. [21] And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. [22 ]While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”

Because of Noah’s obedience by lining himself up with the Word (Christ) God promised not to destroy the world with flood again for Noah’s sake. But out of the descendants of only Noah did God make a generation of people.

Likewise, because of Jesus Christ’s obedience to the Cross, God has made to Himself a new generation of people (those in Christ) and everything else is destroyed.

Let the Word bring you to the Holy Spirit Who dissolves every doubt.

Daniel 5:12 “Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.”

Believe, and act on the Word. Confess the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Heaven and Earth shall pass away except for the Word, in Christ!
