“Leviathan, A King Over All The Children Of Pride”

Reference: Job Chapter 41

He is sometimes referred to as Satan, Serpent, Dragon, or Leviathan.

Isaiah 27:1 “In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.”

It’s not the animal but the spirit in the animal.

Likewise, our victory is not over the animal but the spirit in the animal. The Holy Spirit of God in us is our victory over Satan.

God draws Satan with a hook in the nose.

Let’s read:

Job 41:1-3 “Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down? [2] Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn? [3] Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?”

We learn here that Satan makes supplications unto God with kind words. But the Word of God has already gone out. Satan is bound for destruction.

Revelation 20:10 “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

Satan is set for the lake of fire.

God cannot take back His Word. That’s what makes Him God.

We continue our reading:

Job 41:4 “Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?”

Satan is not of his own. He serves the purposes of God. He is not to be feared by the child of God.

We continue our reading:

Job 41:5-33 “Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens? [6] Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants? [7] Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears? [8] Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more. [9] Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him? [10] None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me? [11] Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine. [12] I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion. [13] Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle? [14] Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about. [15] His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal. [16] One is so near to another, that no air can come between them. [17] They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered. [18] By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. [19] Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. [20] Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. [21] His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth. [22] In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him. [23] The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved. [24] His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone. [25] When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves. [26] The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon. [27] He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood. [28] The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble. [29] Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear. [30] Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire. [31] He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment. [32] He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary. [33] Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.”

There is only One Who is not afraid of Satan. He is the One the crushed his head on the Cross.
Today, we fear not Satan because the One Who crushed his head lives in us. This is our victory. Christ in us.

We conclude our reading:

Job 41:34 “He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.”

The rebellion of Satan was out of pride.

Ezekiel 28:14-17 “Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. [15] Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. [16] By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. [17] Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.”

Pride is what prevents many from believing. God condemns pride.

1 Timothy 3:6 “Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.”

When we believe the Word of God, we are humble as the Son of God.

Philippians 2:5-8 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: [6] Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: [7] But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: [8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

Let the Word of God take away pride for humility. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Humility to His Word is our victory, in Christ!
