“Christ in Mordecai”
Reference: Esther Chapter 10
The Spirit of Christ in a man or woman will cause them to do and bear the fruit of Christ including persecution.
Joseph was elevated because the Spirit of God, the same Spirit that was in Christ, was in him.
Genesis 41:38-45 “And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? [39] And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: [40] Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. [41] And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. [42] And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; [43] And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. [44] And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt. [45] And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnath–paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Poti–pherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.”
But the elevation of Joseph came out of persecution.
Joseph likewise is loved by his father and hated by his brothers.
Genesis 37:4 “And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.”
Jesus Christ is loved by His Father but hated by His brethren
John 7:1-4,6-7 “After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. [2] Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. [3] His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. [4] For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. [6] Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. [7] The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.”
Spiritual elevation comes directly out of persecution.
Ephesians 1:20-22 “Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, [21] Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: [22] And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.”
The King recognizes elevates Mordecai.
Let’s read:
Esther 10:1-2 “And the king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and upon the isles of the sea. [2] And all the acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, whereunto the king advanced him, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?”
The Advancement of Mordecai came out of the persecution of the Spirit of God in him.
Esther 3:2-6 “And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence. [3] Then the king's servants, which were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king's commandment? [4] Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew. [5] And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath. [6] And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.”
The Spirit of Christ in a man or woman will draw persecution as Christ.
Matthew 5:10-12 “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [11] Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. [12] Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”
But it is through the persecution that the Church (the bride of Christ) indwelled by the Spirit of Christ, advances.
The Church (the man or woman indwelled by the Spirit of Christ) rejoices in persecution because faith is aware of a better resurrection, recognizes the world is not his or her home.
Hebrews 11:33-38 “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, [34] Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. [35] Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: [36] And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: [37] They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; [38] (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.”
Like all persecutions for righteousness sake, the persecution of Mordecai was his direct means to his elevation.
We conclude our reading:
Esther 10:3 “For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.”
Through persecution, Joseph stood next to Pharaoh. No man or woman could come to Pharaoh except through Joseph. For Joseph had the Spirit of Christ in Him.
Through persecution, Mordecai stood next to King Ahasuerus. No man or woman could come to the King except through Mordecai. For he had the Spirit of Christ in him.
Through the ultimate persecution, crown of thorns, helplessly nailed to a cross. No place to be born, and no place to die. Rejected by Earth, and rejected by Heaven because He had taken upon Himself the sins of Earth.
Through His persecution, Jesus Christ stands at the right hand of the Father today, No man or woman comes to the Father except through Christ.
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Rejoice therefore when the Christ in you is persecuted.
Acts 5:41 “And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.”
BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Through persecution, we stand next to God, in Christ!
