“Not the Kindness of David but the Kindness of God”

Reference: II Samuel Chapter 9

When God is in a man or woman,
His Love becomes the love of him or her.
His Joy becomes the joy of him or her.
His Peace becomes the peace of him or her.
His Mercy becomes the mercy of him or her.
His Grace becomes the grace of him or her.
His Patience becomes the patience of him or her.
His Kindness becomes the kindness of him or her.

David expresses the Kindness of God to the house of Saul.

Let’s read:

2 Samuel 9:1 “And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?”

The Spirit of God dwelling in a man or woman will drive them to do just as God. This today is called the fruit of the Spirit. It’s the man or woman who had become a branch for the Vine to bear His fruit.

John 15:1,4-5 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. [4] Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. [5] I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”

David was simply bearing fruit of the Vine.

We continue our reading:

2 Samuel 9:2-3 “And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he. [3] And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet.”

Note David said “the Kindness of God” and not the kindness of David.

We have no kindness unless God is working His Kindness through us, by our oneness with Him, through our identification with Him in His life, crucifixion, burial, as ascension, and now dwelling in us in the Person of the Holy Spirit. Now we express the attributes or fruit of God as branches of God the Vine.

We continue our reading:

2 Samuel 9:4-7 “And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lo–debar. [5] Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lo–debar. [6] Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant! [7] And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.”

The Lord did not judge Mephibosheth by the sins of Saul. He dealt with Mephibosheth according to the heart of Mephibosheth.

Ezekiel 18:19-20 “Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live. [20] The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.”

We do not inherit the righteousness or wickedness of our biological parents. We are judged by God according to our hearts. Whether we have received God by His Spirit of we have the spirit of Lucifer.

This is the judgement. If one doesn’t have the Spirit of God, they have the spirit of Lucifer. There is no in-between.

We conclude our reading:

2 Samuel 9:8-13 “And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am? [9] Then the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master's son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house. [10] Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master's son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. [11] Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons. [12] And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth. [13] So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king's table; and was lame on both his feet.”

David brought Mephibosheth to his table just as the LORD had brought lame David to His table.

Let the Word of God bring you to His Table. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. The Kindness of God, in Christ!
