“David Defeats Every Enemy”

Reference: II Samuel Chapter 8

Our Heavenly David has defeated every enemy.

Colossians 2:14-15 “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; [15] And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

He defeated the Enemy of self.
He has defeated the Enemy of sin.
He has defeated the Enemy of sickness.
He has Defeated the Enemy of death.

He nailed them to His Cross.

He resurrected but death did not resurrect. So today, we have power over death in Christ.
He resurrected but sickness did not resurrect. We are healed by His stripes. So today, we have power over sickness in Christ.
He resurrected but sin did not resurrect. Sin shall not have dominion over you. So today, we have power over sin in Christ.
He resurrected but the self (flesh, plans ideas based on our physical senses) did not resurrect. We walk by faith. So today,we have power over our physical senses in Christ.

David defeats every enemy.

Let’s read:

2 Samuel 8:1-11 “And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg–ammah out of the hand of the Philistines. [2] And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts. [3] David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates. [4] And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots. [5] And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. [6] Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. [7] And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. [8] And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass. [9] When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer, [10] Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass: [11] Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued.”

David made a show of them openly, and dedicated his trophies to the LORD.
Today, we in Christ are the trophies dedicated to the Father.  We are the silver and gold of all the nations brought to the Father.

Revelation 7:9 “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;”

The crucifixion of Christ was for all nations. His victory through His death was for all nations. The Jew, the Gentile, the man, and the woman receives His victory if they express the same faith. They become the trophies of God.

We continue our reading:

2 Samuel 8:12-15 “Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. [13] And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men. [14] And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. [15] And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.”

David ruled over all Isreal and executed judgement and justice just as our Heavenly David will rule over the world executing judgement and justice.

Psalm 9:7-8 “But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment. [8] And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.

We conclude our reading:

2 Samuel 8:16-18 “And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; [17] And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe; [18] And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.”

Every one in Christ will have a part to play in the Kingdom.

Though David defeated every enemy, and gave Israel rest over all the enemies, that victory did not last.
But the victory we received through our Heavenly David through faith is the only victory that will last.

1 John 5:4 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

Let your faith in the Word of God bring victory over every enemy. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. Every enemy defeated, and trophies to prove it, in Christ!
