“Trophies of His Cross”

Reference: 1 Chronicles Chapter 18

Every enemy was defeated by king David. The Philistines, Edomites, Syrians, and Moabites were all subdued by King David. They became servants to the king.

So is our Heavenly David. Every enemy is subdued. Sin, sickness, Satan, death, and the grave are all subdued by His Cross. Every enemy in heaven and earth is subdued by His Cross.

Matthew 28:18 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

There are no more battles left to be fought but victories yet to be claimed,  when Satan is ultimately placed in the bottomless pit.

Revelation 20:10 “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

David defeats every enemy.

Let’s read:

1 Chronicles 18:1-11 “Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines. [2] And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts. [3] And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates. [4] And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots. [5] And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. [6] Then David put garrisons in Syria–damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. [7] And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. [8] Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass. [9] Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah; [10] He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass. [11] Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.”

Today, men and women in Christ have become trophies of the Cross.

John 17:2-4,6,9-10 “As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. [3] And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. [4] I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. [6] I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. [9] I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. [10] And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.”

Jesus Christ is glorified in men and women in Christ. We have become trophies of His Cross to the Father.

John 17:24,26 “Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. [26] And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

The Love (fullness) of God in a man or woman makes him or her a trophy of God.

We continue our reading:

1 Chronicles 18:12-14 “Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand. [13] And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. [14] So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.”

The trophies of His Cross (the Body of Christ) shall reign with Our Heavenly David when the kingdoms of this world is His Kingdom.

Revelation 11:12-13,15 “And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. [13] And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven. [15] And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

The trophies of His Cross shall reign with Him.

Revelation 5:9-10 “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; [10] And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

We conclude our reading:

1 Chronicles 18:15-17 “And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder. [16] And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe; [17] And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king”

All power on earth was given to David. All power in heaven and earth was given to our Heavenly David.
