“Music Of The King”

Reference: 1 Chronicles Chapter 25

God works through music. David played his harp to dispel evil spirit off Saul.

1 Samuel 16:23 “And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.”

Music is part of the Spirit of God. He sings over His people with joy.

Zephaniah 3:17 “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”

The Angels sang at creation.

Job 38:1,4,6-7 “Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, [4] Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. [6] Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; [7] When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

Lucifer as an angel of Light was created with pipes of music.

Ezekiel 28:13 “Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.”

Music is a tool of spiritual warfare.

2 Chronicles 20:20-22 “And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. [21] And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. [22] And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.”

Today, our musician is our Heavenly David.

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Today, God inhabits the praise of His people.

Psalm 22:3 “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”

David knowing this, sets up the praise team.

Let’s read:

1 Chronicles 25:1 “Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:”

Not just sing, but prophesy with harps, psalteries, and cymbals for music is a tool of spiritual warfare. For God works through music.

We continue our reading:

1 Chronicles 25:2-6 “Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king. [3] Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD. [4] Of Heman: the sons of Heman; Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti–ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth: [5] All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. [6] All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.”

God gave Heman the seer fourteen sons and three daughters whom the father raised in music for service unto the Lord. For God works through music.

He saves, heals and encourages through music.

We conclude our reading:

1 Chronicles 25:7-31 “So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the LORD, even all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight. [8] And they cast lots, ward against ward, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar. [9] Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and sons were twelve: [10] The third to Zaccur, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [11] The fourth to Izri, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [12] The fifth to Nethaniah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [13] The sixth to Bukkiah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [14] The seventh to Jesharelah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [15] The eighth to Jeshaiah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [16] The ninth to Mattaniah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [17] The tenth to Shimei, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [18] The eleventh to Azareel, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [19] The twelfth to Hashabiah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [20] The thirteenth to Shubael, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [21] The fourteenth to Mattithiah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [22] The fifteenth to Jeremoth, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [23] The sixteenth to Hananiah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [24] The seventeenth to Joshbekashah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [25] The eighteenth to Hanani, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [26] The nineteenth to Mallothi, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [27] The twentieth to Eliathah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [28] The one and twentieth to Hothir, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [29] The two and twentieth to Giddalti, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [30] The three and twentieth to Mahazioth, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve: [31] The four and twentieth to Romamti–ezer, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve.”

A praise team of two hundred and eighty eight.

What an army! What a voice of healing!

Let the Word of God be music to your spirit and soul. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. God works through the praise of His children, in Christ!
