“Thus Says the LORD”

Reference: 1 Kings Chapter 17

The darker it became in Israel the brighter the Word of God.

The Light (Word) of God shines bright in a man called Elijah.

Let’s read:

1 Kings 17:1 “And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”

It was not according to the word of Elijah as a man but according to the Word of God dwelling in Elijah.

Man from creation was to be indwelled by the Word of God. Man was to eat from the Word of God (the Tree of life).

Genesis 3:22 “And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:”

Eternal life comes from this Tree of life. This Tree of life is Jesus Christ. This Tree of life is the Word of God.

Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

The Word of God, the Tree of life, and Jesus Christ are the same.

John 1:1,14 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

The same Word that was made flesh was made a Tree of life for man to eat thereof.
The same Tree of life we eat of today in Christ.

John 6:53-58 “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. [54] Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. [55] For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. [56] He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. [57] As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. [58] This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.”

The Word of God is the Food (Bread) of life.

Elijah has believed and received the Word of God. Believing is the eating of the Tree of life or the Word of God.
When you eat the Word by believing the Word, the Word becomes a part of you, and you can then go to your Ahab, and say to him, “according the Word.”

God wants man to eat individually and not as a denomination. To eat directly from that Tree of life.

We continue our reading:

1 Kings 17:2 “And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,”

The Word of the Lord came to Elijah, and Elijah believed. Jesus Christ is the Word of God.

Has the Word of God come to you, or you are just bumbling and tumbling your way through the sea of life?

The Word of God comes to everyone who hears this Gospel of Jesus Christ. We receive Him by simply believing Him.

We continue our reading:

1 Kings 17:3-5 “Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. [4] And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. [5] So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.”

Elijah threw away all doubt and did exactly ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF THE LORD.”

If we will throw away all doubt and go according to the Word of God, every promise of God will be fulfilled in and through us.

We continue our reading:

1 Kings 17:6-15 “And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. [7] And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. [8] And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, [9] Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. [10] So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. [11] And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. [12] And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. [13] And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. [14] For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. [15] And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.”

The Word of God came to this widow in Zarepeth. She received the Word, believed the Word, and the Word became life (food) unto her and her child.

We continue our reading:

1 Kings 17:16 “And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.”

ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF THE LORD!

This is the stance of the believer. This is the position of victory. Standing solely on the Word of God.

We continue our reading:

1 Kings 17:17-22 “And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him. [18] And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son? [19] And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed. [20] And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son? [21] And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again. [22] And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. “

The Word of God bringing life into a dead child.

The Word of God will bring life yo every dead area of our lives, even unto resurrection.

We conclude our reading:

1 Kings 17:23-24 “And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth. [24] And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.”

We are recognized by the presence or the absence of the Word of God in us.

Stand solely on the Word of God. Let every act and action be according to the Word of God. BELIEVE and confess Christ the Word as we’ve revealed Him from the First Adam. The Word of life, the Tree of life, in Christ!
